Just the coolest looking things in the world, but all of us older guys remember the "snap crackle pop" that went along with that look. I've been reading up online about the new generation "coil" cables, most notably from Core One Bullet Cable, and from Vox. Any of y'all out there had any experience with these updates on the classic curly cord?

No experience with the new ones, but I picked up a couple of the vintage ones at a garage sale a couple months ago for 3 bucks. Not the worst cable in my arsenal, plus, they look awesome.

I used to use those coiled cables, years ago.
When they started crackling, I used to buy replacement solderable 1/4" jacks from Radio Shack.
I'd cut off the last inch or so, solder on the new connection - and voila!
. . . a Brand-new cable.
I've still got 7-8 of those left over, still - NEVER use them - all stright cords, now . . .
I don't like anything tugging at my guitar when i'm playing . . .

I really like the cables which have one plug mounted 90 degrees . . . those are pretty nice; ever try them?

I guess for the retro look they are cool. I sure did HATE those DAMN curly chords back in the day! I mean you move around on the stage and you always feel that pressure like a spring trying to pull you back.

I'll take a 18 to 20' Mogami cable any day or better yet a high quality wireless system!

I remember using those curly cords with a pedal. Everytime I'd walk back to stomp on it - it was in a different spot!

Things have changed for me since, though.
I got away from heavy metal and hard rock, and grew an appreciation of some stuff that was . . . different . . .
Now the kind of stuff I play now has a lot of fast sliding chord changes, and I have to sit and brace the guitar between my chest & my lap to keep the damn thing from flying back and forth all over the place as I slide up and down the neck . . .
.
So I could probably use those curly cables again - except for one thing: dependability.

I want to plug in - and play. I don't have any inclination to wiggle cables and futz with equipment, to get it working right . . .
