Throat Problems

I just went through a couple of weeks of stress getting my daughter married off. A lot of late nights and socializing. I began to lose my voice at the rehearsal dinner and now, a week later, I'm having trouble singing.

I've been through this before and it took months to get my proper singing voice back. The gigs I used to do were 4 hour sets and my voice got bullet proof, but this sucks and I just got a new set of speakers for my PA and I was going to start booking again after the wedding.

But I don't know how long this is going to last.

Anybody else had this happen to them?

I'm no singer but from a medical standpoint I believe the whole healing process is speed up in a state of full hydration, unless you have CHF, Renal impairment or some such other issues in dealing with a high circulating volume.

Rest as much as you can, and drink a lot of water.

But then ... I did not need to tell you that.

All you need is rest for your vocal chords and plenty of hot lemon water with honey.

Simply don't use them and they will heal.

You could have acid reflux there stranger. If you have been socializing and eating lots and drinking alcohol. You might should get that checked. It is what our singer in TBF turned out to have! The stomach acid can make its way up into the vocal chords and burn them causing loss of voice.

Cut an onion with the grain, not across so the circles show. Then boil it in 3 cups water. Add honey, toss the onion, & drink it.

Add 1-2 oz of white cider vinegar to 12 oz water, with a lil honey. Drink at room temp.

Rst your voice as much as you can. If you have that doubling effect, you prolly have nodules & need to take a month off.

Thanks for all the good advise, I have that part covered.

I was curious if anybody else went through this....

I fought the nodules for over a year, once.

Every spring I get the hoarseness, which is why I use the onion & the vinegar stuff. It truly does help.

I'll relay that to Tony ... Phil.

He has a horrid time with sinus and upper respiratory congestion.

Will knock him out for weeks even months at a time.

Take a slightly over-ripe peach. Toss it over your
left shoulder 3 times then peel it and throw the meaty part away.
Take the skin and the pit and crush them together into a paste.
Rub the paste on your throat until it is angry red. (transdermal)
When skin is angry red sing a high C note for 30 seconds.
Now go to bed and lay down cross ways on the bed with your
head and shoulders faceing up and hanging off the edge.
Now drink a full 12oz. glass of ice cold water as quickly as
possible whith your head still hanging down.
When finished apply your middle and index finger into your
nostrils and breath through your mouth only for the next
two hours.

Everything should be fine in the morning.

One burbon, one scotch, and one beer.

When I drink alone ... I prefer to be by myself! 8)

That sounds like our Cayenne pepper and tomato juice cure all....

The cure is worse than the disease.....

They sound way worse than they taste. I was surprised at how good the vinegar one is. I drink it often on hot summer days, too. Keeps yer 'lectrolytes up. Very healthy.
