Trent Reznor and his How To Destroy Angels bandmate Atticus Ross have released a free, five-song sampler of tracks from their forthcoming soundtrack to The Social Network, the forthcoming David Fincher film about Facebook.

The five tracks, available through Reznor’s Nullco.com record label website, are “Pieces Form the Whole,” “Eventually We Find Our Way,” “On We March,” “The Gentle Hum of Anxiety” and “Soft Trees Break the Fall.”

The full soundtrack album will be released digitally on September 28, to be followed by CD, HD Blu-ray audio and vinyl versions in October.

Reznor’s most recent release was the self-titled, six-track debut EP by How To Destroy Angels. The band also features Reznor’s wife Mariqueen Maandig. That recording was released as a free download, as was the last Nine Inch Nails album, The Slip.

No news yet on whether Hollywood has plans to green-light a 140-second movie about Twitter.

Do you really find all this interesting Craig ?
Or you getting paid to advertise ?

Not trying to be a dick. ( it comes natural )

I guess that's just the difference in people.
All these little tidbits of entertainment tonightish information are just a waste of time to me.
Are there really people who care ??
It's just tabloid beyond me I guess.

Eh, I certainly find the part about Reznor releasing new music for free particularly relevant...it speaks volumes (excuse the expression) about the music industry today.

Had it been about Trent Reznor writing his dog's biography, I couldn't care less. But I certainly feel that this is post-worthy. That's just me, though...to each his or her own.

Craig, if you ARE getting paid to advertise, I want a cut... .

I shared this story, because...

1) Someone would appreciate a link to 5 "legally free" songs.

2) It shows how some of the industry is moving toward offering MORE for free, to get fans to then BUY their products.

I certainly didn't expect it to piss anyone off!

Yeah, your right Craig.

I'm sure someone has an appreciation.

Not everyone is a mushroom like me.

I have no idea whom Trent Reznor is.

I guess what seems bloody obscure to me is obvious to others.

I used to could name everyone whom played for every band I liked and whom they played for before. All seems terribly irrelevant to me these days.

Rock on dude !!

I'm in a similar boat actually. The names of bands that Jimmy mentioned as being at a music festival... I didn't know 1/3 or more of them!

So many come and go these days too! It's hard to keep up.

I'll take a turn rowing that boat...I used to know every little detail about any band I came across...couldn't care less about it now. Trent Reznor (NIN) came around just a little before I got out of that.

those of you who were id games fans back in the lake 90's/early 2000's will recognize trent reznor's band nine inch nails as the makers of the soundtrack to Quake. Other than that, he's never done anything I cared about, really... other than free music.
