There isn't much that scares me

...but the wind is positively WHIPPING out there, & a big tree just fell in my back yard. It just snapped off with a huge CRACK. This August was one of the driest on record, but that tree was alive.
When you have as many trees as I do, this is scary!
The wind kicked up into a frenzy, then it got deathly calm, then it started up again. I guess it's just a small cell, but man was it spooky for a few minutes...TWICE!
I think I'll wait a few more minutes before I head off to STICKMASTERS...
I sure hope my lil building stands up through this...it ain't even finished yet!

I love a good thunderstorm but high winds do worry me a bit.

Hope it all works out Phil.

Imagine that at the moment you were most nervous about that high wind. Maybe what 50 or 60 mph? Then double that wind speed and make it constant for 12 hours and that is kinda what its like during a hurricane. I sure hope those folks on the east coast are fairing well but those storms move so fast at that latitude they really don't have as much time to do a lot of damage. That is my hope anyway!

Long Island here. Total non event.
Surf predictions 12 to 16 feet. Extreme rip currents. NO SWIMMING!!!!
First of all RIPS are great because they give you a free ride back out beyond the break. I look for RIPS because they can be more fun than the surf.
Waves never got above 6 feet, still fun, been in much better surf. Gwen hates it because of all the scare reports. I've been boarding and swimming in this stuff since I was a kid.
Now when you talk about twister strikes, they happen so quick, thats scary stuff.

We used to go out and walk in the hurricanes eye when I was a boy living in Portland ( Corpus Christi ).
It's an awesome weather event.
Yeah, I love it !
Talk about feeling the power of nature and by default God.
