I think it's perfectly fine. BM has a right to make $ if they wish, any way that they wish.

The ppl in here are high quality. I've made friends around the country. The forum is the best I've seen.

There are lots of free sites. I haven't paid here, either. I've found o/l to be the worst way to meet ppl, preferring to do it face to face & through references.

If I stumble across someone's profile that's near enough, that I simply MUST meet, I'd pay the ten bucks once & be done with it. I certainly ain't complaining about anything thus far.

I use the site to share info, for critiques, to learn & socialize, like I do most other sites.

I don't know guys. I think $10 is worth much more than it used
to because nobody wants to come off of it. WHAT DO YOU THINK gLEN?

No, I'm not paying here because I'm not happy with what I've seen in my area and I got people hitting me up to check them out and they can't sing, their vocals and guitar are all out of tune then want to get snotty with me when I tell them they won't work out and they're stuff needs work. Please. I prefer Musician's Contact Service: http://www.musiciansconnection.com/. You pay on an ad by ad basis, you get contacted but you're dealing with pro players.

You can try your luck over at The Music Connection: www.musicconnection.com and sign up for AMP. There are free classifieds there and I've been contacted by some decent people.

However, if you want to hook up with people for collaborations, songwriting ops and things like that, I think $10 is worth it for this site. I can tell you now, if you want anything in this business, you're going to have to pay or contribute.

I like the forum here because there's some really great guys here and some decent players. If you're new to the business, they can provide some good insight and it's worth it to stick around and check out the posts. I like just shooting the sh*t with some musicians for a change.

I think the few dollars is worth it. You know, I've gotten a lot of messages from vocalists that aren't vocalists, and those are all from different resources. So, no matter where you do your searching you're always gonna get the same kinds of enquires. The grass is the same color on the other side, you just have to hope that diamond in the rough will come your way. :)

Just my $5 dollars worth.

I'd pay $10.00 just to get people to read the FAQ before they start asking questions.

MONEY

I agree to a point. It should be a a trial period first. Say 30 to 60 days to see if people like it and if you get contacted by others. Like I posted looking for musicians and have people look but I can not contact them to talk and see if it is something both parties want to do. After the trial period then yes $10.00 may be worth it.

Took me about four months to complete our band utilizing the search function on a daily / semi daily basis.
Want instant gratification ? Go to McDonalds.
Building a band will take time, money, & effort.
And lots of each.

60 day trial sounds like a good idea.
You'd best be willing to spend four times that count in your mission or don't bother.

Not to be disrespectful really. But thinking your going to put together a band in just a few days or months is delusional.

You don't measure commitment or persistence in days.
You measure it in years.

Okay, I finally took the dive and paid for a membership. People are beginning to ask me if I'm playing out and I realize that I need some musicians.

I contacted a bunch of guys today, so let's see what I get back. I put up my Reverbnation because I was tired last night and that's all I had time to upload.

One thing I do like about bandmix is it appears to attract a lot of people who want to get together and play in a band for fun or really care about being a serious musician.

Let's see what happens.

Yeah great idea. Let Bandmix do the hunting and when you find them you can leave and still not have to pay anything. I wonder if that sounds like a good idea to Bandmix? Maybe you should inquire or suggest that to the webmaster.

It's pretty simple really. BM provides a service to musicians. If you feel this service has value, ante up. If not, no problem. It's the same with performing musicians. We provide a service to our clients and if our music has value they willingly pay our performance fees. I am sure a lot of our clients would like us to come out and play for free but... it's just not gonna happen. :)

ARE YOU ALL THAT STUPID?

I can't believe you people didn't even think of putting some kind of contact info ON YOUR PROFILE
I see TONS of profiles with NO CONTACT INFO AT ALL
All you have to do is go back into your profile page, and add a phone number, email address, etc..
YOU CAN USE THIS THING TO YOUR ADVANTAGE
DUH!!!
