I know post counts in and of themselves aren't all that important, any idiot can rack up a couple of hundred posts just being annoying. But once you get up into the thousands it shows a higher level of commitment to the forum community. Some of those posts made people laugh and some made people think and some probably solved a problem or two. Knowing this forum some were probably arguing about something. Posting milestone threads provide a place to show your appreciation for a members contributions. That's the way I look at them anyway.
