I got a call from an aspiring bassist.
I figured he looked ok on paper, let's ee what he's got.
The guy played like a big dog, but guess what? HE's 70!!!!!!!!!!lol
whoA nellie!
And he wants to play.. what do you say to a 70 year old guy who actually knows his stuff but looks like road rash.>?
I am tempted to give him a shot.. I know I'll never have to argue with him..lol

Do the makeup Kiss thing. That'll work. Wow! I need a bass player to jam with. But he's older than me so he would probably boss me around.

I'm getting up there, I'm 52 going on 25. We've been gigging with a 60 year old guitarist who's going on 30. It really doesn't matter how old you are. We gigged with an 18 year old a few years ago. Age is irrelevant. Ability and work ethic are really the only two factors I care about. I don't care what somebody looks like, how old they are, what race they are, what sex or sexual preferences they have, as long as they show up on time, play their ass off well, and don't bother me with too much personal matters, have good hygiene, play sober, then I'm okay with it. I would just pray that a 70 year old would not drop dead at a gig, although younger performers have dropped dead while performing. You never know when your time is up...

Yep we range from late 20's to late 50's to best of my knowledge.
I will be 50 tomorrow.
We get that " the band is a bunch of
old guys " response pretty regular when we show up.
We also get that " those old guys ROCK" response when were done.

That'd be a hella show there..
A big guitar solo with some delay etc. and he falls over and his bass strats feeding out and we just keep playing.
YEAH! Sign me up for that one.. I want to go out like that as well.

Can he DO THE JOB is the only thing that matters, unless, Cap, you're starting up a pretty boy band!

I'm gonna be 40 when my nephew turns 18. I'm hoping I can steal him and get him to jam with me. He'll forget how old I am anyways. I'm too much of a delinquit.

I am 42 now and ugly..lol
He is 70 looking more like 100.
He looks like Abe Lincoln, no hat, white beard and hair.
I dunno what to do. He's probably more reliable than most as long as he lives through the show.
(shrugs)

I would give him the job stop thinking so hard. Have some fun. If Jimi Hendrix were living, would you hire him? He'd be about that age.
