Saw this on Backpage.com under musicians wanted classified. I sent them this reply: I can save you the trouble of having to gather all the information from such a survey. Basically ALL musicians are psychotic indivuals in various ways. Included psychoses are attention deficit syndrome, obsessive/compulsive, alcohol and drug addictions, delusions of grandeur, fear of success, schizoid, etc. etc. That's it in a nutshell...

All of the above, and it is true. It's been this way for years, so why is there being a study on this. :?

I have no idea why there is a psychological study on band members. There's been countless tax dollars wasted studying a myriad of subjects. I just thought it was quite humorous that they would put it in the Backpage.com classified. Talk about studies in psychology, I have got the weirdest responses to musician searches in that particular musician's classified. For example, one time I got an e-mail from a prospective guitarist who claimed he had over 20 years of stage experience. He showed up dressed to kill and had good equipment but literally couldn't play a note. I asked him how on earth he had twenty years stage experience. Turns out he was in a union that built stages for world famous touring acts (Rolling Stones, Eagles, Styx, etc.), so his stage experience was BUILDING stages. I wonder what a psychologist would say about him...

That's one of the funniest stories I ever heard about an audition...what...did he think he'd pick up his abilities through osmosis?

I guess in his experience he met people like Mick Jagger, Pete Townshend, etc. and really believed he could be in a band. He knew how to dress, he bought good equipment, he just thought that's all you needed to be in a band I guess. Shame was that he was a really nice guy and IF he could play he would have been a valuble band member for somebody. He did have a lot of knowledge of the music business, just couldn't play anything.

Gee...I thought we were perfect examples of the human condition - narcissistic, selfish, agist, racist, angry, militant, OCD, ADD, sexually repressed, exhibitionistic, pathological liars, druggies & drunks, psychotic, neurotic, etc, though we may be, we're just ppl, ain't we? Not much different from any others. At least we have an artistic release for our lil problems, & that makes us much safer to be around than those who don't!

What would the world do without such losers? Music makes the world go round.

Ah, it's a dirty job, but someone's gotta be a loathsome creepy talented genius to keep up iPod sales.
