Anyone see John Mayer this morning?

He was on the Today Show. He did okay, I guess, but I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan or anything. His voice kinda bores me real quickly, but he's a fair guitar player.
I do appreciate that he's making rock, & being appreciated for it, cuz rock's all but dead on our air-waves, these days.
What do you think?

Not the biggest fan but the man can play guitar, write a decent tune and he gets more tail than anyone so I give him props.

He is also one of my least favorites. If he came on my TV I would most likely change the channel just as I do when 90% of the morning show bands show up. To me his guitar picking is average and I don't really like his vocals. He's just another bought and paid star to me.
But the music industry is what it is. However, in his behalf, at least I don't almost break my neck trying to get at the remote to change channels as I do when some acts are on.
Sheryl Crow was also on this morning. I left her on because she's kinda cute.

I don't think I've ever heard Cheryl Crow sing anything in tune...but yeah...she's cute.

I don't get it with this guy either... he's been Claptonized. where does everyone get that these guys are "awesome" guitarists?
Their both mediocre at best in my opinion. If just writing a good song and mediocre guitar playing makes you a star, where the hell is my money?

I dunno. I really hesitate to bash Mayer. I think he's quite creative. I loved that one backwards video he did, & I think he's really very talented, overall. It's just a shame about his voice...
It's also true that he ain't no guitar god...but he's the best that popular music has come out with in a long time.
And yeah...I don't like Clapton, either!

You guys need to did out that cd he did with the trio a few years ago. I cant remember the name of it but that dude can play his ass off! I may not like his pop persona so much but he is a very talented guitarist!
