Thanks Dewy,
I hope you can find a good picker for your musical endeavors. I spend most of my playing time just gettin down wiff my own bad self and my electric drummer, working out material I will most likely never perform anywhere except at jam sessions. But sometimes my real drummer will drive up here and set up so we can jam.
I have always liked playing in front of an appreciative audience, but I enjoy the creative control I get while in front of a DAW when mixing stuff down to a final cut.
Every now and then my old bass player will come over and we will make a recording on my DAW. Other than that, some of my fellow pickers send a .bun or .cwb file to me and I'll open it up and add my guitar to it, arrange it and remix it.
I asked a guy from the Netherlands to play Dobro on one of my covers. I sent the MP3 file to him and asked him if he would pick all the way through it so I could chop out sections of it that enhanced the song. He sent back the mP3 of his part and I blended it into the mix. I really liked what he did. That was a lot of fun. You could always try doing something like that.

I'm afraid I'm not into the recording & laying down tracks bit. I've got the software and equipment, but I've never been able to stay with the learning curve long enough to accomplish anything. I've always been better off learning something with someone, than getting it by reading a manual. Also I am not any kind of a lead picker, strictly rhythm and vocals. Played drums/vocals most of my life. Picked up rhythm guitar about 12 years ago but no lead.

I think the prob is that when you are "Dewey1," you are you, but when you are simply "dewey" you are the other guy.
