The 2010 International Songwriting Competition (ISC) competition

The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) is now accepting entries for the 2010 competition. Now is your chance to enter what the NY Times calls “the competition to take note of” with $150,000 (US) in cash and prizes - including $25,000 (US) cash for the grand prize winner alone and the best judges for any songwriting competition in the world.

The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) is an annual song contest whose mission is to provide the opportunity for both aspiring and established songwriters to have their songs heard in a professional, international arena. ISC is designed to nurture the musical talent of songwriters on all levels and promote excellence in the art of songwriting. Amateur and professional songwriters and musicians are invited to participate. ISC has the most prestigious panel of judges of all the songwriting and music contests in the world, offering exposure and the opportunity to have your songs heard by the most influential decision-makers in the music industry

Some of this years celebrity judges include:

Kings of Leon, Timbaland, Rob Thomas, Tom Waits, Jeff Beck, Steve Winwood, Adele, Loretta Lynn, Journey, Robbie Williams, James Mercer (The Shins) and Darryl McDaniels (Run DMC), DJ Tiesto, Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol), Black Francis (The Pixies), James Cotton, and McCoy Tyner to name a few.

Industry Executive Judges:
Seymour Stein (Chairman/CEO, Sire Records), Amanda Ghost (President, Epic Records), Monte Lipman (President, Universal Republic Records), Ric Arbot (President, Nettwerk Rcords), Kim Buie (VP A&R Lost Highway) and many many others

Depending on the category, submissions are judged on the basis of the following criteria: Creativity, Originality, Lyrics, Melody, and Arrangement
Production/Recording quality and vocal ability are not criteria.
Overall Grand Prize Winner - $25,000 cash (U.S.) and $20,000 in prizes. ISC is a great opportunity for songwriters, musicians, and performers to win cash and prizes, further their music careers, and gain recognition and exposure in the music industry.

In addition to cash and merchandise prizes, winners benefit from a multilateral promotional campaign designed to give international exposure and attention to their songwriting achievements. The Grand Prize winner and First Place winners (except for Lyrics Only and Music Video) will also be included on the ISC Compilation CD distributed to music industry professionals including publishers, record label executives, film and tv music supervisors, and media.

Phil , Its good to see you can still crack a smile, after all the stuff your going through ,[without having to bend over] :)
Sans, If you have any thing good do not let copyrights stand in your way. Intellectual material is basically copy protected from the moment it is created.
Do you know how many songs never got copyright protection untill long after they were off the "CHARTS" As long as you can establish rights to ownership you are covered.

Thanx Band Mix for bringing this to everyones attention. I think Ill start a new thread for evryone to say yeah or nay to a song being entered.

What do you think guys?

it's pretty rock solid too now that I use word to write, because when you make the file, it is part of the file, and it pretty much shows the exact date and time, you wrote, said piece of music.
