Taylor Swift Joins Forces With 'Mix Me In2'

Music superstar TAYLOR SWIFT was announced today (6/10) as the first artist to join forces with Mix Me In2, the groundbreaking, creative, and fun music technology developed by Atlanta-based Fried Green Apps. Executives from the company will be on hand Sunday 6/13 at Taylor Swift's 13-hour Meet and Greet in Nashville to unveil Mix Me In2 Taylor Swift, a new iPhone App, powered by Mix Me In2's patent-pending technology, which allows music lovers to literally go inside the music. Fans can use the app to create hundreds of different versions of their favorite songs. They can remove or change instruments. They can even mix themselves into the music by replacing existing instruments and vocals with their own. It's an exciting way to experience--and creatively re-imagine--music.

"I love playing music, and I love creating music," Taylor said. "And, as somebody who is also a big music fan, I always love finding acoustic versions of my favorite songs. I think Mix Me In2 will be a great way for fans to have fun interacting with my music and to listen to new versions of my songs!"

In addition to the chart-topping original recording, each song in Mix Me In2 Taylor Swift comes with 5 heretofore never-released versions: rock, acoustic, urban, piano, and coffee house. All the music in Mix Me In2 Taylor Swift was approved and reviewed by Taylor Swift, her record label, and management team. The Mix Me In2 Taylor Swift app will cost $2.99 and comes with 2 of Taylor's biggest hits, "Love Story" and "You Belong With Me." Additional songs will cost $1.99 each.

"We are thrilled at the enthusiasm and support we have gotten from Taylor and her team throughout this process," said Fried Green Apps CEO Bill Pike. "They have continually stressed how important it was to make this about the music and the fans' enjoyment of it, which is exactly why we invented Mix Me In2."

Fans can upload their versions of the songs to TaylorSwift.com and share them via Facebook and Twitter.

Though Taylor Swift is the first artist to release her original music through this groundbreaking app, Fried Green Apps is working with several other major record labels and artists. The company plans to release versions of the app for The Plain White T's, Breaking Benjamin, and other major artists starting in the next few weeks.

"It's more than an iPhone app," said Grammy-winning producer Dallas Austin, a key player in the creation of Mix Me In. "It turns every music fan into a music producer."

Finally, an easy way to become a big-time musician. Now you too can produce incredible music without hardly any practice whatsoever. Just think of the possibilities. Now for sure barowners will never again have to hire multiple member bands. Just you, and you alone, along with your Fried Green Apps can perform at any cover venue. Never again will bar patrons have to suffer through lame versions of cover tunes by full bands again. No longer will aspiring musicians have to spend countless hours practicing on their instruments now that they can easily produce superior results via the amazing Fried Green method. They said many years ago that computers would improve all of our lives, reducing our labor and freeing up more time to be creative. This is a shining example and proof of the wonders of the digital age. If Taylor Swift can do it so can you....

When I first read this, I realized it was just intended as fun, for the masses. But as an artist and songwriter, the idea of people f*cking with your originals doesn't quite sit right with me. It's brilliant marketing, and keeps an artist name out there... but at what cost to the artist?

They may as well be saying...

"Hey everyone... my music isn't artistic and meaningful at all... it's just a musical form of legos... here... take the pieces and arrange them any way you like! There's no method to my work... the pieces are all interchangeable! Enjoy!"

RFLMAO A while back, I think it was Bob that posted an amazing chord editor, where you could go back and actually change each individual note. And I remember seeing a post on something like “How to become a pop star”. With the technology we have now, talent and practice is becoming more and more irrelevant. Although I think it will be some time before crowds become satisfied with the playing skills of someone using a mouse, or their phone.

(That ewww is negative) lol
(choke)(gag)(choke)

It's the GUITAR HERO mentality.

Notice we have no KEYBOARD HERO or BASS HERO..but if you have a good one, one automatically knows they really are heroes.

They make you look good even when you are not quite good that night..lol

A friend of mine who is an experienced guitarist and drummer was auditioning new guitarists a while ago and somebody showed up to the audition without a guitar or amplifier. When they asked him what's going on he told them he was an expert at Guitar Hero. I'M NOT KIDDING. He thought he could get into a band with his Guitar Hero skills. That's the kind of sh*t that I'm talking about. People are doing this computerized music making and think they are actual musicians. It's like people's fantasy dream worlds are becoming reality in their minds. Many years ago I read a story by Franz Kafka called The Beetle (I think that was the title). It's about a guy who wakes up one day and has turned into an insect. helpless and not able to survive without external help. I think that's what some people are turning into. I still get musicians who continuously contact me by e-mail or text messages and NEVER call me. What would happen to these people if they showed up to rehearse? They would probably put headphones on and not pay any attention to the band members. We had a guitarist who filled in for us at a gig one time who did that. The next idiot who does that in my presence will have to retrieve the ripped up headphones from the nearest dumpster...

I wish they'd quit dummying down the world of music.

Why don't they dummy down something else for a change...like surgery...or aerospace engineering?

I always wanted to drill a small hole in the base of my skull, right under my ear. lol

I'll keep a band-aid on it and no one will notice..
