Computer help question:

Some how some where I picked up what seems to be an add-ware infection.
I can get to the Forum by using the history or most visited icon if I am lucky.
But I cannot get to My Account without getting hung up by what self describes as " waiting for googl-analytics.com " at the page bottom.
Unfortunately I have to assume it is associated with Firefox in some way.
My Avast wont clear it. I don't have the comu savey to locate and delete the offending program.
Perhaps someone on here has a suggestion before I
(1) Hire a geek.
OR
(2) Blow this SOB back into the freakin stone age.

P.S.
Coincidentally I did not have this issue until I foolishly attempted to set up a google account like my friend uses for a scheduling calender.

Yeah, check your System Restore; but be sure you choose a point before the problem started.

First, clear all of your personal info in Fiefox.
History, cookies, temp files, etc.
Then close firefox. Launch firefox.

The restore wont make any changes past the point of the infection. Possibly due to my upgrade of Avast.

I'll try zip's suggestion. If I can figure out what a cookie is.

It fell it's an ad ware thing. I actually made it to the sign in page via bookmarks before google-analytics wisked me into some baby clothing site

I am back in the saddle ... for now.

Celtic, Windows offers the option of rejecting all cookies, or selectively accepting them.
Does not help Sans, though.
I had a glitch, too, the other day . . .
I did an upgrade the other day, to the latest Adobe viewer. Ever since, I haven't been able to access my MySpace player.
.
I'm getting tired of updates and upgrades that are really downgrades . . .

Sans, you might want to investigate the Seagate external drive which plugs into your USB port.
I bought the 1 terrabyte drive for $130, and when you plug it in, you can configure it to automatically backup everything new on your C: drive, since the previous backup.
Same as a system restore, but it goes back farther.
They also have a 2 terrabyte version, if you need more storage . . . (that's 2000 gigabytes)
.
On my D: drive, I have over 100 multitrack songs which I've recorded, backed up to my external hard drive - a little over 32 Gigabytes of recorded originals.
I'd die if I lost that, but I've already backed up all those files a dozen times.
.
The secret to backing up is: DO it.
And often.
An ounce of prevention is worth several tons of cure, when it comes to computers.

Thanks for the input.
I am obviously going to have to hire a geek.
Can't play any of you all's music.

That sucks. :(

if that's how it's actually spelled, then it's likely hung up waiting for the site to load, which it won't because it's the wrong url (missing the "e").
