The US has soccer balls

Down by a seemingly insurmountable 2 goals deficit the US team came back to score 3 goals against a combative and tenacious Slovenian team, unfortunately the referee voided what it looked to everybody to be a perfect US goal thus ending the match into a tie, a loss would have sent the US team home.

I know you guys are not fan of this sport but I’m so ecstatic about this I have to tell everybody.

The US is still a World cup contender.

I lived in Washington, D.C. for 8 years, and had friends from all over the world. They educated me, and gave me an appreciation for the "world's" sport. I have watched over DECADES, and hoped... HOPED... that Futbol would grab hold here in America... but it has been a sloooooow process to be sure!

A win would have been SPECTACULAR, but hey... coming from 0 and 2, I'm quite pleased with the tie!

Cool!! I hadn't heard the news yet. I mean, it's a bummer the US got robbed, but good news they're still in it.

Soccer is boring.
Shrink the field by about 40 percent and it wouldn't be.

It's not really boring. Americans have trouble (I think) with it being such a low scoring game usually. But even that is deceiving, because the average score per team in football games is probably about 3 scores per game (21 points).

But I learned LONG LONG ago, that you have to think of soccer, a little like sex... plenty of action for awhile, and then the big climax (well multiple eruptions - at least when I am quarterbacking! LOL)...

GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLL!!!!!!!

I thought this was a music website. All I hear about is sports. Now I'm leaving this site for 5 minutes and it is all CHIPPY'S fault. That's all he ever wants to talk about, soccer and music. Can't we ever talk about something fun? Like politics.

Best description I've come across regarding footy Craig nice one.
It's very tribal, almost like ice hockey in many respects I think?

USA are doing marvelous. I'd like folks to know that the ex-pats I know over here are 100% behind them too Go USA! :D

I saw a few really good actors on the news this morning, on the soccor filed of all places - they were really playing up the fake injuries from fouls (& fake fouls, too, truth be told).

Sadly I cannot argue with that Phil.
What I find more irksome is that it seems more prevalent on the world scene as opposed to daily game play, perhaps I'm wrong on that but in any case it just shouldn't happen at WC level.

Kudos.

There's some play acting no doubt but most of the fouls do produce pain, anybody who has played the game knows how it feels to have a 180LBS guy step on your unprotected foot or kick an ankle at full speed, the offending act or foul lasts a fraction of a second and easily missed while the consequences usually is what the public sees.

There's a lot more to be said on this subject but this is the wrong forum for it for now let it suffice to say that a lot of careers have come to an end due to fouls which appeared fake at the time they were committed.
