General Music Chat

To start off with, I had to change the profile here because I'm no longer in Desperate Echo for many reasons...I left. So I've uploaded 3 of my many demo ideas that I just capture for future use (some of you may remember who I am by hearing them) with no mastering, effects, ect. Just ideas.

"Dead To Me" is one of the 5 songs that my old band got recorded before things went awry. We had 10 songs, but sadly were only able to get 5 recorded before the end when our drummer quit and the singer gave up. I'll upload more of them if you guys like this one and want to hear more of what we did. I hear that Jay is trying to get it back together again, but I'm not so sure that I'd want to deal with them again, although I'm very proud of what we accomplished as a metal band. It probably could have taken off especially because we were different than the rest...

Also as you'll see...I'm a REAL shredder that also knows where and how to use it. In Dead To Me I only wrote a little melody lead (which I later changed up a bit) because that's all the song needed. Too many people try to add too many notes for no reason all at the wrong time...not me.

Anyway...check them out and let me know what you all think.

Dave first of all thanx for posting your music.
Second of all thanx for having the balls to post your music.
Third of all I apologize because I am just not a big fan of your style of playing,and that is not meant in any WAY to be taken as a put down.
You play great,just not what this old fluck is into.

Dead To Me - love how this starts, like a rusty old music box. I'm not a fan of the screamo stuff, though I like the singing parts. Good drummer. The sparce guitar is nice in this. The lead is cool, too, cuz it's the most melodic part of the whole thing.

Souls Bleed Too - nice shreddin', I s'pose. Good tone, but it sounds like practice, to me.

When Phrygian Meets Aeolian - Some possible ideas here for a tune. I hope you can expand on it.

E Minor... - sounds like noodlin'...it's good noodlin', though.

Dead To Me: like the other commentary I am just not into the modern metal vocal style. A spot hear or there as an emphasis perhaps depending on the song.
I could really dig this song I think if it were "sung" in a more classic style. Great music IMO.

The rest I am sure there are parts you have singled out as ideas or perhaps a skeleton for a new tune.
But to be honest it sounds more like guitar practice / finger gym to me.

Hahahahahaha! Like I said, the ideas are just that...ideas. Just jammin' around, comin' up with something, and recording it. So it's nothing more than recorded practice. Exacto-mundo!

I don't post actual songs until they're at close to complete, but I've got more (all of which we copyrighted). I'll take down the noodlin' and put up another complete song.

The vid on the page was from the other band. We were only together for 3 weeks, wrote 8 originals, and played that tour show. Ballsy to say the least.

Wow! Tough crowd...Hahaha! Anyway I talked to Shawn for a while last night and it seems that without me...it just isn't the same, so...I'm goin' back into Crowfeather.

The next song is "Retribution Conclusion" which was also the first song in the set for us. In this one I didn't even write a solo because it's got plenty of melody in it to begin with and Shawn and I do a lot of back and forth guitar parts (sounds really cool live when you can really hear the sides switch).

I really don't expect you guys to like our stuff...I'm just showin' ya what we do.

And to answer gtZip...I did leave "When Phrygian Meets Aeolian" up since it was just an improv. Try to pick every single note of the outro like I do (string skips and all). You won't be sleepy then...

Thanks Klugmo! Yeah...metal this heavy isn't for everyone, but it's what we do. The newest 5 tunes will be recorded in a bit, but they are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay heavier than the 2 that I've got up with more speed as well and some crazy leads.

Like I always say...some may like it and some may not. All that matters to me is that you considered it enough to check it out. That in itself is the greatest reward that any musician could ever expect.

Pretty tight bro. How and what did you use to record that stuff? The drums and guitar sound great.

not my style... hasn't been for a while... guess I'm just old now.
still I can appreciate all kinds of stuff.

it's soo difficult to get a good recording on a heavy sound but you did a pretty good job of it.
I can see potential in the vocalists voice... especially the strange harmonies

obviously a big fan of panterra no? hear it in the close drum parts and guitar harmonics
reminded me of drag the waters at points.
especially the effect on the vocals.
btw was listening to unleashed.
my only complaint would be add some cool randy rhodes fills.

as a footnote you may want to consider being sponsored by some throat lazenge mfgs... that sh*t has to hurt!

Kruliosis: We just recorded in Jay's basement, but put the amps in a seperate room. Nothing fancy at all and could have sounded much better, but we just wanted to get some stuff down. Believe it or not...the drums on the recording are electronic drums. I believe an upper end Yamaha kit.

Mike: Thanks for listening. Your opinion is very valuable to me. You're gettin' old? I'll be 38 in July, LOL! And yeah...I don't know how in the hell that Jay does it. I stand there playing and watch him go back and forth between the scream and clean and just shake my head. It's also funny that you mention Randy Rhodes. When Desperate Echo played the "Slave To Metal" tour, the Myspace metal review guy came running up to the stage during my sound check and said that he heard a lot of Randy Rhodes and Yngwie influence in my playing, LOL! Mistress Julia from TMZ TV put on the show and let me tell ya...she's really something to see and...well... .


OK...I just put up another tune called "Fall Of The Automatons". This one is a little different and has my favorite breakdown of all of the songs (besides "Castle Tall" which isn't recorded yet). Right around 2:51 when Jay yells "when the earth had shook"...DON'T BE NEAR THE PIT!!!

Metal I've tried listening several times but I hear nothing, I can see the bars going. I'll try again in a bit perhaps a sys fault in here somewhere, will check.
