It's been awhile since my last post, but I wanted to get some opinions from you guys.

My daughter recently wrote a song titled "Falling Down" - here's the acoustic version of her performing it in a coffee bar:

I welcome comments and thoughts on the new arrangement (bear in mind that the sound guy at the venue didn't have Chandler's mic up loud enough.

Don't expect anyone to chase your music to a different site.

Post it here or let it fall where it may.

I did listen to the 1st track on this site and she sounds like the cranberries.

If you are fishing for positive comments only, I suggest you consult "you tube".

Truth be told, I thought your daughter's music is very common sounding.
I am, however, trying to be accepting of other genres and music.

I am very glad you dropped your little portion of dung into the cogs because it really validates the ideas I have about parents and music. (they do not mix)

To break it down so even you can understand it; NO ONE CAN MAKE ANYONE LIKE MUSIC THEY DON'T CARE FOR NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU PUSH, Mommie Dearest.

So if you don't want to post the music here, you'll have to hope people want to chase it somewhere else.

Otherwise, you can be her #1 fan. Just don't go around tooting your plastic horn like everyone should know her music already.

Is she related to Miley Cyrus? That's another one of 1000's that sounds exactly like she does.

And if you don't like honesty, try someone that can tell you only what you want to hear.

There was just a big discussion about the whole putting your music here for people to hear thing, rather than just on myspace, youtube, ect. Needless to say...I stayed out of it, but in the end, most people seemed to agree to not venture off this site for people that want critiqued. So that being what it is...

I think that Scott was trying to be nice, BTW. Sarcasm falls on dead ears here and will most definetly not get that particular person heard.

Well, since I'm obviously kind of new here, I wasn't aware of the "rules" about posting links to music on other sites. I didn't see a way to embed the video in my comment. I DID, however see another thread with youtube links that nobody seemed to have a problem with.

My critique would be fairly harsh, so I will just give the summary-

The bass line / melody is ripped off from the 80's, I can't place the song but I can hear it in my head. Should this song ever become popular, she would be facing a copyright infringement (even if she copyrighted it herself) and would owe massive royalties.

Of course this is just my opinion, maybe I'm wrong.

I'm one of the hardest on this sorta thing, & really prefer to see stuff on your profile, Mom.

Still, since we've already established a bit of rapport, I went to check out your daughter's stuff. Hard to give an in-depth critique, with the recording quality of the sound.

From what I can hear, she needs to work on mic dynamics, esp when she pops into her falsetto, cuz the volume drops out.

Seems like a cool enough song, from what I could hear. Missed most of the lyric.

She didn't write the bass line...it's just part of the arrangment made AFTER the song was written, not part of the original melody. Her bass player/manager came up with it. I'd love to know what song it reminds you of. If you think of it, please let me know.

Yes, we had a problem with the sound guy at that show. She had asked several times for him to turn up her mic and her monitor. But, yes...that is something she needs to work on because it happens more often than it should.

I actually had posted the video (actually a link to the video) on her profile before I started this thread.

I am grumpy, pragmatic, realistic and hardworking.

And I detest country music..really.

But I tried to be honest with you and somewhat positive.
