Mellow Party Jazz

That's the style of music, and the name of the song which I just finished mixing and posting here.
.
Seeing as I do Jazz, I felt it was only right to post another jazz song, eh?
.
The vocals are by Emily Favale, who was with the band for a couple months.
.
The Harmonica is by Chris Lennox.
.
The rest - me.
.

Nice flow, pleasing vocals, overall laid back groove.
Enjoyable.
Thanks Alan.

I liked it.

Sounds like the set you have there would do a great rendition of Harper Valley PTA.

I liked it RM very listen-able. The only thing I picked out was perhaps a flat here on a small bridge on the harmonica?

Very nice.

Yeah - you know, I thought that the harmonica seemed to be a tad out of tune too.
What's up with that? You can't tune a harmonica . . . think it's time for a new harmonica . . .
I'm going to re-do that track . . .

Someone wasn't blowing hard enough?

(harmonica) lol

Naw, CS, it's probably the opposite.
Dunno, but he may've warped one of the reeds by blowing too hard - like when we're practicing mostly acoustically, and someone turns up the volume too loud.
I set my guitar just loud enough so the singers can hear it.
My harmonica player doesn't use/need his pickup/amp during practice.
.
So - if it gets too loud - like if either me or the bass is too loud - then he has to blow harder to be heard, and maybe he's going past the tolerance of the reeds.
.
I don't know a lot about harps, though . . .
. . . anyone?
What makes a harmonica go out of tune?

You hit it on the money, RM. Reeds get warped by blowing too hard. Harmonicas have that problem more than any other reed instrument, which is yet another reason I hate them.

Me too!

Never hire a blow hard to play harmonica.

(No offense to your harp player Alan, all in jest)

I don't know why anyone would want to work with any harmonica player.

Most people playing harminica suck 50% of the time. And they blow the rest of the time.

Seems funny to me. I don't know if maybe I would bump that harp track up about 2db where it's not underlying vocals.
Sounds good, just seems to me that the harp is kinda playing the "lead guitar" part. If you follow my meaning here.
I listened then stepped in and out of the room for a different sonic perspective.
The hard seems to carry well at distance yet when I sit directly in front of the speakers I'm thinking "a touch louder" ??

Who knows, maybe because I was focusing to hear the harp ?

It's a very enjoyable tune Alan.
