Its good music, I'm Just a Man DFB remix is kickin' for about 1 min and then gets bla bla bla.

Its good music, but like I said, shallow modern top 40.

I guess thats worth something. Have you made any money from it. Thats pie and the puddin'

Yeah, I agree... it is very good music however I feel that it lacks individuality. I can't really describe what I mean except it sounds very familiar. For example the songs in the middle have a chord progression that is memorable of Just Enough for the City by S. Wonder. It's not your voice which is just lovely, it's the musical structure and instrumentation. Put something unexpected in the structure it

Now, all that being said , your music is very good.

Sounds well performed. Not a genre' I would feel comfortable giving constructive critique on however.
I'll give you this though.
Musically and lyrically pleasant and positive.
You get an A+ in my book for that.

Bassmandre wrote:Thanks for the responses so far. I agree RG and 57. I'm trying to find the happy medium between full artistic expression and commercial viability. I have not presented the more musically and lyrically expressive material I have here at bandmix. Keep it coming. I appreciate the feedback.

Well, why not put up the more expressive material if possible.

"Something About You" - It's like you put more emphasis on the production than the piece, for me. Not much substance, here, either melodically or lyrically. It's like much of the genre that I don't like - the cookie-cutter DM work with synths & the guitar-solo melody sung all warbly-like.

"I'm Just A Man" - This has a very good strong melody. This has some of the best aspects of old-school r&b in it, while keeping current, to a degree.

"Remix" - The usual effects in a remix, but it doesn't hurt the song. I'd like to hear this one live, with real instruments & singers doing it all live.

This is saying something, coming from me, btw. I'm usually pretty hard on your genre. There's something about the over-warbling that just tweaks me, & I prefer a held note more often than that stuff, which should be used occasionally, for effect, imho, instead of the basis for every singing episode that it's become. Your tracks are well-mixed, which is refreshing. I also like that you stay in your male vocal register.

Now, lemme hear your more creative stuff.

Not bad Andre.

I was going to bitch at ya, but it took me by surprise.

I can tell you what my vocal coach told me "Do you think that the voice you used will excite people"? (I said No) He then told me to increase the drama and sing like "you are trying to excite people".

(all in all, not bad. Decent R+B possibilities, I was fearing the worst)

Normally people asking this type of question are already ankle deep in mud.

Funny you should ask here..

Andre, I'll be glad to check out your stuff if you can provide me a link somewhere I can hear it.

The lil snippet was so short that it's hard to rate, really, but what little I heard there sounds very derivative, & commonplace in the genre.

Coming from a Family with a musical background, I can truly appreciate your Music. You are well rounded in music! You can write, arrange, and play Instruments! What you give us on bandmix is but a mere sample of what you can do! I think what most dont know is that some of these tracks are things you and the band did years ago! Having heard you Live at an event, it cant compare to what people are hearing on this site! You get a deeper appreciation for your music when its heard live! There was a comment about lacking Substance in one of your songs, in my view you gave it just what it needed and nothing extra. In some cases too much substance could kill the entire song leaving the listener wondering what in the world is going on! Music is like different elements of Art! When you bring all the elements together and finely tune them you create a masterpiece! Me being only a singer, i can say that vocally hands down, you have what it takes. You have a beautiful melody to your voice! I wouldnt know the first thing about arranging or playing music, but what i do know is Good Music when I here It! Good Job and keep it coming!
