Nah that's more like your old soul than anything else. We called it R 'n' B and some of the best nights I had out were watching bands playing this kind of stuff.
My ear on the ground says there is a resurgence of such material, including its equally popular though not connected sidekick Ska which would be great.

I wonder where she's from. That lead singer has a very odd accent, & a rather trebly approach to singing. All in all, though, I think they're interesting, at least.

I actually liked it. Very Much. It does have a throwback to the R&B sounds of the 60's or there about.

sounds like they're trying to pick up on Amy Winehouse's retro-inversion of R&B.

Hayden, I think you are totally correct. When I first started listening to the videos, the first thing I thought of was the sound of Amy Winehouse. I happen to like that sound.
Check out this vid by Amy W. Around 2:22 check out the kid videoing. LOL

Amy's was more heading towards HipHop in my view. More Jerky, lot's of accents and such, but again thats just my view of it.
I meant 'Northern Soul' by the way. That's exactly what it was called and the spectrum wasn't that large. It was mainly dancing soul music with a black vibe/hint. Marvelous stuff really.
