because we don't play too loud. Because we show up ON TIME, because we perform four 45 minute sets which start and end ON TIME. Because we play really solid blues and mix in a few songs of other genres and one or two originals every set. Because we tell the patrons to TIP the bartenders. Because there's nobody else that sounds like us...I'm starting to get a swelled head about our band. I guess blues ages like wine. I've never been really satisfied with anything I've done until this past few years. I've been in blues bands for almost thirty years. ANd I've been playing with the same drummer now for about 15 years. I firmly believe sticking with people is the key to making good music. Instant chemistry is very rare in this business. It's all about being patient and believing in your band-mates. We performed at a new venue. It was a smal but appreciative crowd. Being good Friday probably hurt the attendance. It's really hard to compete with Jesus, but that's a good thing. I'd rather a lose a crowd to Jesus than anybody else...

Good for you Bob. It's always amazed me how many bands start late, take really long breaks and then wonder why they don't get repeat bookings.

We do four 45's as well. Makes for a long night, no? :)

Awesome ! Bob.

Glad it's going well.
Perhaps we should coin the 45 minute rule for live acts.
It seems to be the perfect balance.
Playing loud but not "too loud" is also a balance.
If you want people to enjoy your show you have to take mercy on the ears and reduce the auditory fatigue.
If people cannot converse, you may be too loud for most club style venues.
I have heard people say they don't want the crowd to talk during their show. But if they cant say to one another "man great song, great solo" ETC during your performance chances are they wont after the fact.
