I find these things very sad. We're all human beings. Hypocrisy should be something we abhor.

I believe a persons sexual preference is there own buisness. I DON"T CARE IF SOMEONE IS GAY! It has no significance at all TMI. The man was just voting the way he felt his constituants wanted him to vote. I think there is not enough of this going on in polotics in this day and time. The man simply had the b@lls to go against his own kind, to do what the people elected him to do! IMO! Playing devils advocate here, maybe he was just pandering to the folks he believed would keep him in office (vote for him in the next election). But why would he admit being gay after that?
Some people call this talking out of both sides of your mouth I don't know.

JH, you bring up a very good point. While I agree that the man is doing his job, however, I would also say that he, by his very nature, isn't necessarilly qualified to do that job. It's like a morbidly obese woman being the spokesperson for Jenny Craig. They wouldn't hire her, & if this man's constituents knew who & what he is, judging by thier preferences in his voting policies, they would not have elected him. It still comes back to hypocracy, & no matter how you may want to sugar-coat it for us, this guy misrepresented himself to get the job. He lied. He should be fired.

This story does, however, bring up the depth of the "homosexual problem" in this country. It's far more widespread than we once thought it to be. Perhaps, as these stories continue to come to light, the far right will learn to accept those who are different. After all. these constituents were most likely satisfied with the man's performance in his duties, at least until this truth came out. Perhaps they aren't all bad & working against this country after all.

LOL

Nah...that's expecting too much from certain ppl...

And that's pretty much the problem I have with it.

We can only hope.

Wouldn't it be a nice world though, if that happened?

He may have been under threat. I forget who now, but some Democratic Politico threatened a few months ago, to start OUTING the Gay Republican Senators and Congressmen he knew about, and he said there were quite a few.

For me the travesty in this, is the stranglehold the Christian Right has had on the Republican Party since Falwell's Moral Majority days. If church was not good enough for you... then get off your self-righteous asses, and go witnessing for a change!

And why Christians would even CARE how the "government" defines marriage is BEYOND ME! Are you, as a Christian couple, honoring your vows, because you signed a legal document, or because you made those vows in a CHURCH.... BEFORE GOD!

Marriage is threatened?

Bullsh*t!!!

That's like saying "God" is threatened, and beyond defending Himself!

It's a VIOLATION of homosexual's CIVIL RIGHTS to deny them rights, afforded to someone else, because of SEXUAL PREFERENCE.

I can't believe it still exists!

It is CLEARLY a violation of personal civil rights based on DISCRIMINATION!

And just to show the HYPOCRISY in this....

A FOLLOW UP QUESTION:

Where are all the Christian groups DEMANDING that Mormons should not be allowed tax exempt status? Or some other religious group they find ungodly? Some of these preachers are out there telling their congregations that many of these mainstream religions are preaching the "Devil's Message" and "deceiving millions into hell!"

Is that of less concern than Gay Marriage?

It shouldn't be, but there's the rub... they RECOGNIZE the RIGHT of people to start a religion they disagree with... ANY RELIGION, and even be afforded TAX EXEMPT status for it, and they are happy to... "Let God sort it all out. Let God decide who the "true" Christians are!"

Why not the same reasoning for gay marriage?

Let God decide who He considers truly married or not.

Why not?

Homophobia, Discrimination and HYPOCRISY!!!
