General Music Chat

Just want you all to know that no one has heard us play a single note and by hyping the living sh¡t out of our debut on FB, we've already got 530 fans... We haven't even done one frikkin' gig yet! We are advertised on a few local radio stations as well as a few music mags and have already had 2 club owners call us up to book a show at their joint!! AND WE HAVEN'T EVEN PLAYED A FREAKIN' NOTE!! So I've booked 2 more shows without having to go through a manager like I thought I was gonna hafta do and all of this was due to making our MUGSY FB page... no one would've heard of us! We've got well over 200 peeps that we know coming down, let alone the people we dont know and the opening act has one helluva following.... I was told that the place can't hold too many peeps but nothing like playing to a packed house that's never heard you!

I don't do FB or Twitter, I'm in front of a computer 8-10 hours a day as it is. I also have a pretty big internet footprint already and really don't need someone from third grade looking me up. But our singer is and he's rounds up lots of people from it.

Thanks for sharing this info. I've been avoiding FB & Twitter. Perhaps I should reevaluate my position...

LOL.... I trimmed my personal FB page from over 1000 friends down to 120 due to all the freakin' drama that pops up every day... the only one's on my personal page are friends, family and musicians that I know... I really wasn't a fan of FB myself but have to admit, Jimmy, There's no way in hell we would've gotten our name out there and all the offers if it weren't for FB.... Sure I had my own little following due to all the bands I've performed in the past but we are treating this as a BUSINESS and we need all the advertisement and exposure we can get... The best part of it all is when you have the clubs calling YOU to gig at their establishment as opposed to the opposite... leaves room for $$ negotiating in the future. I've payed my dues the past 3 years and I'll be damned if I walk out of a gig anymore with only a couple of bucks in my hand. If these clubs see that you can draw, then they will definitely want you in their club as EVERYBODY benefits from this agreement! Here on Long Island, it's very freakin' hard to make a buck playing out and we're doing everything we can to draw to the max! I honestly didn't believe anyone was gonna order anything from our store but all my wife's and my relatives and friends ordered at least one item!
