Monster rigs from back in the day

Ah, youthful exuberance...what were some of the overkill setups you guys were running in your late teens, early twenties? In the mid 70s when I was doing the power trio thing, I had the 68 Les Paul I still own, a Maestro Echoplex, a Maestro PS-1, and a 200 watt Hiwatt stack. An open E chord was like a punch to the solar plexus!

Ah yes, the 70's. My first Marshall was a 200 watt behemoth with a 4-10 cabinet. I traded it in for a 100 watt head with a slant back 4-12 cab. When the 80's approached everyone was dumping the big rigs for portable combos (Mesa Boogies, Fenders, etc). By 1982 I was back on the Marshall train. Today I won't play through anything but my TSL.

Prevost when we bring that out we dont even hook it all up anymore. And if I use the big amps I use a power soak, but you set that up and it just scares people, You know what I mean?

Sometimes its fun to scare people a little

jw123,

Oh how I would love to have that setup to take to a nursing home. I can't even imagine the looks we would get from the administrators.
