2/3 of my old band gettin down wif it. (On my BandMix page) M Train.

This is one of the first R&R songs that I remember. At least it is the one that made me aware of the awesome sounds a guitar could produce. My bass man, Austin, and I recorded this one day so his kids, also all musicians, could hear their old man like he sounded on a bandstand. Even at 69 years old, Austin is still gigging 2-3 times a month. And he doesn't have to take a back seat to the younger guys.

The vocals and bass were recorded through a Peavey XR600 PA. I taped the signal direct from the preamp. The lead guitar ride was recorded through a clean setting on a J Station". Guitars used. Strat and a Alvarez bass. Sure SM58 mike.

Actually, this is a great town to play since there are so many musicians that have come out of retirement to gig again.

Nice playing. I wish more guitarist played a clean, distinct sound like you do. Too many lead players I hear play with too much distortion, sounds too dirty to my ears...

Both of those songs were fun to work out. I am glad you liked them.

As far as clean playing, I don't think it is for everyone. I have to play a song until I am about sick of it. And I have to work on a shaky riff over and over until I'm about burned out.
On the bright side, the sub conscious allows me to pull it off thoughtlessly after a while. But when you play so bright, the bad notes absolutely scream out at you far above everything else. I'm not that good a picker, but I do work hard at it.

Those bad notes stand out like a 600lb woman in anorexic bikini contest.

Nobody but you and a few other learned guitarists would know you are hitting a bad note...I didn't hear any bad notes...

Yeah. I do a lot of odd things, especially on the rides. I like to lead the listener so far from the song that after a few seconds of the instrumental the listener will forget what the song is about until they are led them back into it. Rather like a mini vacation from the singers bag. Works best with my vocals.

My drummer and I always tell the singer that she is just a way to kill time until the good part gets there. (The instrumental when we get to cook)
The singer is kinda like a warm up band until the main show goes on, at least that is how we explain it. Most singers understand and readily embrace that point of view. .... NOT !!

I listened and first off I will say that what you play isnt my cup of tea and normally I wouldnt even respond.

But I wanted to comment on what a clean recording it is in general. The little reverbs gives it that Sun records rockabilly vibe to me. Its a good mix and sound on my computor, so many things on here dont work thru computor speakers including a bunch of my stuff but this sounds good and clean. Your guitar playing sounds confident. I prefer lots of distortion to cover up how sloopy I am, so although not a fan of your style I can appreciate where you are coming from.
