Thank you!

I was getting tired of all the derogatory remarks on some of those political threads. Your post truly is a breath of fresh air.

just got a little annoyed about the premium thing. I'm sick of having to pay for things just to get in contact with other musicians. I'm gonna put a card in my local music shop. Bandmix can go to hell.

Its a business, businesses need money.
Theres another post on here about why is success a crime? or something to the extent.
Do you want to make music your career? A career is a business. Which means you'll be a leech to your fans. Think about the irony of that for a while.
They offer a digital media, you'll offer a entertainment media. I think that if one likes either one, they can spend money on it as they see fit.

They have to pay for their site somehow.
You can always use MySpace classifieds for free. Or CraigsList. Or put a flyer up in your local music store, go to open mics, etc...
Don't hate on Bandmix for making their site profitable enough to continue existing. Compare it to so many free upload sites, or online storage sites, who go out of business after 6 months.
There's something to be said for staying power and dependability.
A small fee, makes that possible.
And if that's too much, there are always alternatives.
Good luck in your search.

There's something good to be said for charging a fee for a premium membership. First of all if somebody pays for a membership them just maybe they are a little more serious musician. I have found some excellent musicians on here. Most of the people I meet off of Craig's List and Backpage.com haven't been up to the level of people on Bandmix. A few have but there's a LOT of pretenders on the "free" websites. I put "free" because in reality they are NOT really free. Look at all the advertising on those "free" websites. Craig's List has many paid features. Backpage.com has many paid features. I like the look of Bandmix. To my eye there's less cluttered advertising. I believe I've made some good friends with the people who post on this forum. If you browse the profiles here many have music and/or videos loaded on their profile pages. I can't remember any Craig's List advertisers who have music on their ads there (is it even possible to put music on those ads?) While you may feel like Bandmix is ripping you off, and I don't blame you, there's a saying in business: You get what you pay for. If all you want is free sh*t then that's what you'll get, sh*t...
