It's more than a little ironic that Palin is irked at a show that is on Fox. But she may have a point. Is making fun of people with disabilities going too far?

Family guy is sick on so many fronts.
If that is what passes for entertainment it's no wonder this country is F/U.
I don't believe in censorship, just common sense.

Eh...she prolly objects to Josh Blue, too. Family Guy can be funny as heck, & yeah, at times I just sit there in awe over something they do, but I'm never really offended by the show. It does seem at times to be a little over the top, but that's become to be what I expect of the show. I thought "American Dad" was even worse on some level, but you don't see ppl getting riled over that one.
I DO think it funny that Fox shows it, though, considering thier usual political stance on anything.
I thought it absolutely hilarious when she said that Limbaugh's use of the word "retard" was inoffensive satire, but that anyone else who says it is being offensive.
Why we even talk about this woman is beyond me. She seems to want to censor according to her personal taste, which of course allows the conservative to be as offensive as he wishes, while cutting off everyone else...She's such a retard.

Family Guy has always been f'ed up.
If you don't like it, don't watch it.
I turn off South Park all the time after I get minorly offended. lol

south park goes much farther than family guy ever did.
That being said, I agree, don't like it, turn it off. We all talk about freedom of choice, right?
FWIW, I think it's funny, I think south part was funny once, and I think george carlin, sam kinison, and rodney dangerfield are (were) all funny as it gets..
I don't wish to legislate morality or taste.
Yeah, I have a disabled child, and yeah it pisses me off when someone makes fun of disabled kids, but I have a choice to ignore it, walk away. Just like you have a choice to ignore and walk away from someone who makes fun of republicans/.democrats/dogs/cats/etc...

philbymon,
Don't take this wrong, but.....
"I thought it absolutely hilarious when she said that Limbaugh's use of the word "retard" was inoffensive satire, but that anyone else who says it is being offensive."
That is not true. Rush was quoting the press secretary when he said that. I heard it when it happened. I'm sure you could find it in the transcripts. Why didn't anyone jump on the a$$ of the one who said it first?
The media simply took it out of context as they do everything else. They do that to distract us from what is really happening to our country as we quibble over the petty crap.
OK. So what is the big deal anyway. Should we scrap the whole language and come up with new words for everything some demented bastard doesn't like?
So we should drive into the auto repair shop and tell the mechanic
"My engine is "Ignitonally challenged". I need you to set the timing."
A retard doesn't have to be mentally challenged. If the word retarded is improper to use to describe a condition, then why wouldn't the word that is substituted for that condition also be improper? Go figure

LOL
S'okay, SG. I still thought Limbaugh was much more offensive, though. And Palin DID jump on the guy who said it 1st.
I think it's funny when I tell ppl to "retard" the ending of a song. I get strange looks for the use of the word, but it simply means to slow down the ending.
Ppl take way too much way too seriously in this country anymore. I hate the touchie feelie crap. Get over it, America! I will never be PC, though I don't try to be offensive too often...I think...

Dont make me mad. I just think its garbage so I dont waste my time with it. What does make me mad is too often when I do get a chance to sit down with the family to watch a little TV. Freakin perverse garbage is all thats on.
Humans are like computers. sh*t in = sh*t out.
Kind of like holding a fart too long. It migrates up your spine and gives you shitty ideas.

You know I hear a lot of people using the word "retard", that is until they realize someone they know is retarded/similar setup.
Then one is filled with self-revulsion at the idea that one could be so thoughtless and self-centered. We take what we have for granted. I'm guilty of this as well.
It's all good until you are part of this scenario, then it snaps you to the line.
Try role reversal, it'll shut your mouth quicker than epoxy chewing gum.

I don't give a FF what someone else thinks of me.
Weak minds...... too many weak minds.

I think it's retarded that a valid word like retarded shouldn't be used. It has a meaning that no other word I know of has.
Should I also feel bad to say that something is fire retardant? Perhaps I would feel differently if I had a MENTALLY CHALLENGED child... not a retarded child because there is no such thing anymore, but I don't think so.
Still, soon enough the word challenged will take on all the ugly connotations the word retarded has and we will feel ashamed to use that word. Doesn't it seem like we are chasing our tails by giving words so much power?
furthermore why don't we feel ashamed to use the word dumb? ie why dont' the same rules apply? what about blind? I can say you are blind as a bat and no one gets mad. If I say you are 'challenged' no one get's mad... but if I say you are retarded... WWIII.
I guess this is why I'm not easily offended. To this day one of my favorite movies is blazing saddles. I think I like it because it IS so offensive.

I love BLAZING SADDLES because it pokes fun at all those words people find offensive. Mel Brooks is a generous in that way. Ahead of the PC curve.
"NOBODY MOVE OR I'LL SHOOT THE NIGGER"
That's funny, I don,t care whom it offends.
