How Cool Would it Be??

I meet a lot of good musicians on line. (Most here seem to ignore me, perhaps rightfully so?) I can't really include everyone. Fisherman Bob & sanshouheil watched my video. 8)

I was thinking the other day... How cool would it be if a lot of us were in the same area? Meaning some of your favorite "Internet musicians" We would have jammed together, or played gigs together, or just hung out.

I did all the repair work in this town for over 50 years. I hung out and partied with the rockers, and jammed with a lot of guys. They would bring stuff here for me to repair or customize, and we would sit around for hours on slow summer days and jam with the doors open or just share the newest LP Or even just show off our newest chops. Sometimes we'd even smoke those funny cigarettes.

Ever think about that? What it would have been like to jam with your favorite pickers almost any time you wanted to? I thinnk it would have been a gass.

Gee Slacker, I think more people than you know are checking out your stuff. Just cause you can't see them listening to it doesn't mean it's not going on.

Oh and FYI that thing on the webpage that shows who's been around of late is not infallible, I caught it missing some people at one point or another.

AND as for you repairing amp for the last 50 years? How about giving me some tips on repairing my stuff?

You a bored, pissed off amp tech now?

Let us all buy you an internet beer. lol (burP) I hate Rolling ROck!

Oh and btw, people are very hesitant to chase your music to another site.
I just went to look for it, but didn't see it? I assume that it's elsewhere.

Capt. Scott,

I really didn't think anyone was looking. But thanks for letting me know. I tried to link some of my stuff, but it is all over the Internet in little cubby holes. I have to Google myself to find it. For the first time I found a virus alert with my name on it! Today!! And it was for something someone put in my computer in 2008 even. Like what's up wit that? I must have gone through 6 computers since then. But I'm glad their on their toes.

Actually, I started repairing in 1963. I quit last summer. I sure spent a lot of time working on amps. Most of the guys would come here when they needed guitar customizations or for setting them up better. I did a lot of amp design and custom work too. Pretty much whatever they wanted.
But I really don't agree with a lot of the "old wives tales" that I see posted as "tips". And a lot of the "hints" are geared towards sales. Now all I do is design stuff for myself. and build guitars.

Hey Slacker me neither you are one mean gitbox player for certain.
I think thats the problem and sole cause for the frustration over here frankly.

There are a lot of good people around as you say, trouble is they all live in what might as well be a different country in respects of geography. I don't think the Internet colab thing will do anything to change that either. It's nice to have musical mates around you enjoying that atmosphere any day of the week.

There are hordes of musicians everywhere you go, you just gotta look. But it's still like pulling teeth trying to get everyone together to jam, people are too damned busy (me included).

I was going to say the same thing Jimmy.
I cant remember when I had a slow summer day, maybe 1979 ??

Wife, kids, extended family, jobs, home ownership, band, etc , etc.

These days a slow day would require being air dropped into the Mojave desert.

And then the phone rings !!

Thanks guys. I guess the whole idea was a brain fart of sorts. It started while I was answering a friends post. I started thinking how neat it would have been if we grew up in the same town. We probably would have hung out, or at jammed together, or I would have gone to the clubs to see them play. You know, all that crappy wistful thinking garbage that goes through a brain at times.

You are all really right. I know some stellar pickers in this town and we never get together anymore. At least we seldom do. But we used to meet at the Sturgis bike rally and things like that. We still share when we get new toys and the likes. But as noted, and so true, people get tied up in life and drift so to speak.

But I'll still wonder what would have been if some of you had grown up here, or if I had grown up there. I just think it would be cool as hell.

But on the other hand. never mind.

I had a great time when I worked in the music store. I got to hang out with some cool ppl, talk music, catch the occasional altered consciousness, & even jam with ppl sometimes, not to mention the fact that I got to play anything I wanted to play. Man...good times!

Slacker, I STILL go to open mic nights and open jams. There are some stellar musicians.

Some of the local bands also are pretty cool about having you join them for a few songs, so long as they know you can play-

Yeah. I miss all that sh*t. It was so cool to open my door and a few hours later later would be 3 - 4 other musicians just telling stories, listening to music or playing it. That was a gas. I never did make any money. But I got off work any time I wanted to. I could have the music stores hold the repairs for 2 -3 days if needed......And I could take the day off whenever I got the bottle flu.

We have jams here on Thursday night. But it's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO loud I can't stand it. Most of the accomplished musicians never show. It's mostly young guys that haven't seasoned yet. They just sound ripe. :)

I like the way the "censer" repairs words like sh!t. Yeah, Like that stupid little asterisk where the i should be will fool everybody. Or maybe it's there for any kids that get on line that can read but can't spell sh1t.
