Frankly, I think the guy is a fool. He's going to trade being a part of the show, not just musically, but also as part of the dialogue, which is a RARE success, even in his field, for what is statistically a probable failure as a career touring musician.

He has no to-date hits, isn't known as a vocalist, and at best may break into the jazz scene, which is beyond hurting moreso than blues or other non-pop genre's.

It's a longshot. Hope he's got sponsors who can take the fall, and not using his life savings to finance his efforts.

Just my opinion, of course :)

Meh.... I think he just wants to do something creative and more expressive. Reminds me of GE Smith leaving SNL to broaden his horizons, expressively and spiritually by producing and teaching.

The dude can rip on the guitar, he may take hit on the money but if it's more artistically satisfying I say good for him!

He should take the black chick singer with him. She cooks on bass, vocals, and does pretty good on guitar. I am impressed with her every time they feature her in something.

I think he'll do well enough on anything he tries to do, musically.

I never cared all that much for this guy's playing, and thought even less of his tone.
