Yahoo! At my homework - er, I mean - emails

So, I'm looking for musicians to start a band. I've carefully worded my ads to weed out people whose goals are different from mine. I really don't want to waste time on yet another project that'll never get out of the garage because the other members want to do all prog-rock radio (look, I like prog-rock too, but it doesn't fly in the bars).

Great.

It's worked.

I've had many fewer responses, but most of them I've gotten were the people I was looking for.

And I lost several of the best ones because of an e-mail screwup.

Apparently, anyone on Yahoo! I send e-mail to from my mail server has a greater than zero chance of never seeing the e-mail.

So, at least two of the people that I thought were great until they turned out to be flakes (never answering my e-mail to them) are probably not, in fact, flakes. Too late to fix it now with them, but fortunately I have a singer and a drummer who thought to call and ask me about the lack of e-mails.

This is the third time in ten years Yahoo! mail has caused me problems.

GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! :x

<chanting>no more rants no more rants no more rants no more rants</chanting>

You know, it's hard enough finding good people who aren't already in bands....

ouch. the problem with email is that as soon as it leaves your computer, there's no effective way to determine if the intended recipient actually received/read it :/ total faith committment that the system works.

Sorry to hear that.

Best of luck filling out your band.
Chris

I had a problem getting band emails last year on my yahoo account. They never turned up in the spam folder or anything. One day, I got an email dated two weeks prior..

I went and switched to gmail- and I LOVE the threaded discussions (no more 40+ emails for each replied subject) and the shared calendar also rules, with an iron fist.

Yes, I just got a gmail account. It's reliable. Go figure.

Thing is, my personal domain is reliable as well.

Are you seeing a pattern here?

Anyway, I may go with gmail for the band just for the calendaring stuff. But I'll have to sell it to band members. The ones I might have in spite of Yahoo!

Yahoo's been having a lot of problems, lately. They've also been doing some changes that just irk me. I only check it for incoming stuff, now, never to send or even respond.

I love that gmail!

Hotmail is just as bad these days.

So, today I've been informed that my e-mails are being marked as Spam by Yahoo!

But they refuse to respond to any of my feedback messages.

Effing incompetent jerks.

If there is a legitimate configuration error on my site (I doubt it, I've used independent checking sites to check it) I'd like to know so I can fix it. Otherwise they are just being anal-retentive jerks.

Spam is bad. Non-spam being treated as spam is at least as bad.

You know, I could understand if my domain showed up on the RBL lists. But it doesn't.
