Ok, this isn't just some shameless plug, i have just uploaded some of my home brew recordings on here, i've had a myspace page for ages and nothing ever comes of it, i find it's impossible to promote my page, i'm hoping for more from this site, for now, and the purpose of this post is, just to gather some feedback, honest genuine critisism, whatever you think, i would like to put a band together, or just join one, i play guitar, bass, drums and i'm a bit of a vocalist. all these tracks were written and recorded by myself at home, just really want to know what you think, because i know i'm not alone on here. Thankyou for your time if you do :D

"Open Hand" - I like the idea. This is a good song. I think the rhythm guitar tone is too buzzily distorted, & thus, too distracting, although it could be my crappy spkrs. (Yes, I said "buzzily" - LOL - the word of the day!) It sounds too busy with this tone, cuz I can't discriminate what you're playing. You are a very good player! Nice vox, too. I like the changes. If you played all of this, I salute you!

"Smother Me" - Nuther nice one. Again, though, the buzzy guitar is distracting, cuz I can't differentiate the notes played very well. This is just too busy to have that tone, I think. You have a great vocal range.

"Memory" - You really like that tone. It hits me ear like the worst of Korg's keys tones, & it blends too much with the keys you are using. LOL Sorry...I'll shut up about it now...I like your prog sound. Your fills are flawless! Love the changes at 3:08! GREAT!

"Stop The Pain" - This is the 1st one that hits me as "just okay." I prefer the others, thus far.

"Leaving" - Nice feel to this. I like the way you blend the harsh with the mellow on this one.

"Disillusion" - Your guitar skills are quite up to snuff. I like the intro. I'm not too crazy about the guitar solo melody for the vocal line, but that's just me, I'm sure. Nice snappy feel to this.

"How Do You Like Me Now" - The intro feels rushed, but it's pretty cool. Love the chord progression choice. Your vocals are sweet, Iain! Love these harmonies. Are these programmed, or are you actually singing them? Either way, they kill. Love the arpeggios. You have some great ideas.

You are one kickin' dude. Very nice work.

LOL! :D

Very good recordings firstly in my view. On that you are getting s's here and there on vocals. When 'open hand' opened up I thought about the Jam immediately, Great drummer. (I take it he's real?)

Are you using double vocals? That its very common over here, I frankly don't like that aspect of today's music if such it is?

All in all its very good foot tapping stuff to be honest. very good rhythm work too.

Well done.
Now off you go and comment on someone else's work too hahahaha

Welcome Iain,
I'll listen and comment when I get a chance. Looks like Philly gave you a detailed assessment of LOTS of your songs! If he liked them, they are probably good.

Can't wait to check them out.

Welcome to the forum!

dude...nice vocals. How are you having trouble finding people to form a band. I wish I lived in England. I don't hear the buzzing guitar, but then again I'm a drummer so, i'm not that intelligent about that stuff. I dig the drum parts though. Sounds fun to play.

My thoughts exactly.. In Vegas, with a voice and songs like that, you'd be in a band in 2-seconds.. Great songs man!!
