There's something missing in all the samples on your profile page. I think what's missing is a raw, natural live sound. Your production is overall excellent but I prefer something that sounds like a band live. I'm sure your clients were happy if they prefer a production that is as clean and polished as the results you achieve. Sometimes too perfect is well, too perfect. However, you're obviously good at what you do...

i know what you're getting at, Bob, and I agree that there are some "human" elements missing. However, my interpretation of the intent here says that it's spot on. The sound is very finessed, and I hear a new wave influence (Duran Duran comes to mind-they had a lot of stuff that sounded like this). Even distorted guitar is tight sounding, almost to where you can't tell if it's actually guitar or synth-I don't mean that in a bad way.
My only complaint is that the lead vocals are pretty far out front. They should be high in the mix, but you are teetering on a Karaoke sound. Not there yet, but on the way.
I like your stuff, and hopefully I'll get a chance to listen more later.

thanks for feedback

hi thanks for the feedback i have got so far. i have taken on your points and do agree with what you are saying. i do a lot of work for rnb artists and pop artists and this is why my production is so clean. please go to my other site www.broadjam.com/starscreamsrevenge as i have got all my other production work on there. i would like some comments on these songs as well mainly because this is where my income comes from and you can get a better idea of what i do for other peoples music rather than mine. its like most things in life i have to concentrate on my production work for other artists and do my stuff when i can

anyway thanks for the feedback so far

The voice on your 1st 4 songs in your profile doesn't fit the songs.

Dark Daze - why would you use that auto back up voice? It sounds terrible to me. This song was made for that vocalist, too. A shame, that.

Your profile stuff sounds too much alike to me. I don't like your harmonies. They all sound very strange & don't fit the songs.

Then I went to your other site.

GPS - This is much better, although I really hate this kinda stuff. Production quality is good for the genre.

Passion For Fashion - I just knew when I saw the title I was gonna hate this thing...LOL - but, the production quality is good for what this is, which is a throwback 80's new wave style. Nothing modern about this at all, though, & you could have taken more chances to make this more interesting.

Higher - I'm not the best to rate rap. From what I've heard, this would blend in well with other stuff from the genre.

Love Makes Room - I've heard it before. Nothing new. Doesn't make it bad, but I'm not finding it very interesting. I think it's the genre, though. Production is okay for what it is. I'm stopping now.

Overall, I'd say you rely too heavily on out-dated stock key sounds & standard drum machine patterns. I'd like to hear more REAL musicians in this stuff, even though I don't like the music. It sound very mechanical & emotionless to me. I realize that this sound is popular right now, but I think you may have taken it too far by far. Look up Craig Maxim's stuff & check out the key programs he's using. His sounds way more natural & has an emotional impact that your productions are continually lacking.

Also, although many artists want to hear thier own voices layered upon layered over themselves, when it's done with these arrangements, it comes out sounding flat &...well...odd, to me.

Finally, I think you need to either toss that damned vocal harmonizer, or learn how to use it in more ear-friendly ways.

I'm not trying to bash your stuff, or even let the material color my reviews of your productions, & it's hard. But overall, you have some serious issues with your vocal harmony taste, to my ear. I'd try to work on that, 1st & formost, while also checking into better quality stock studio sounds to use in my productions, cuz all of this sounds like it came straight out of a time warp to me.

I had to leave this until this morning. I rather like your stuff STR. I do think you have an odd voice but I'm thinking that is intentional in any case?

The real problem in here is that folks ask for comment then never come back and return the favour which I think rankles some people? Certainly does me because listening to your own stuff 24/7 can only get you so far.

What I've started doing of late is just posting the darned thing wherever I can and where it is not rude. Peer comment is one thing but getting to your REAL and native audience is far better imho

Nice recordings too.
