Hey we were just wondering what some of you other folks do, when you voice starts hitting the skids after 2 or 3 performances in a row.
Any advice or "old school" remedies. I know I like to take a Halls mentholyptos and a room temperature water before some gigs.
Another buddy of mine eats Lays chips for the grease that coats his throat.
How bout you guys'?

Red Throat Soother Tea by Nuwati Herbals. Awesome stuff! I got it at the Tepee Shop in St Augustine, Florida, but you can get it online at
www.tepee.com.

I swear by the Red Throat Soother Tea. I make a pitcher whenever I have a show, & keep it onstage to sip on all night. I like it sweet, so I use almost the whole bear's head of honey. Lemons dry the vocal cords; not what you want to use when you sing. They're okay for afterward, but not before or during your performance. Here's a direct link to the product:

Awesome. . .

lemons may be bad news because of the numbing effec might cause you to overdo or strain your voice, i dunno.
l do know they work like a charm tho .Down here in South AL, my sinuses stay messed up most of the time. I always eat about 1/2 a lemon 10-15 min before the show, and it really clears the throat, gets the frogs out. I've never noticed any ill effects, but I've never done it over once a week , not every night. And my singing duties are usually no more than a song or two lead vocal, and some harmonys here and there. I've never had to sing lead all night long on a regular basis.

Aloe vera juice ! You can get it in a health food store for sure or maybe anywhere they sell health food products. You gargle with it or you can drink it mixed in juice or water. It's great for a raw throat as well.
Too much vocals...

I drink Coke (occasionally rum and Coke). I also ask everyone in the band to sing a song or two each set. We also play a few instrumentals. This not only helps save my voice but puts less strain on the PA speakers. Later...Fisherman Bob

i usually drink a mug of hot coffee right before the show..helps the throat and gets you wired up at the same time...also heard a bananna will coat your throat because of its sticky texture.. never tried that..doesn't sound like it will go with coffee too well

I sip on water before I sing. I definately stay away from any type of dairy products. I've noticed it makes for alot of not so nice stuff in the throat..lol..and you end up irritating the throat by trying to clear it all out. So stay away from dairy products. No creamer in the coffee,or no ice cream etc... I will also eat a piece of peppermint candy or chew some mintygum to keep my throat and mouth moist. Just be sure to remove it before you sing. There's nothing worse than being able to see a singers gum in their mouth when performing!
