On New Years I went to this party..

It was at the Crazy Horse 3. There's a bar attached to it called Dead Man's Hand. The new owners of the Bar are Jerry Cantrell and Scott Ian.. So they had this small intimate show that wasn't advertised. I just knew about it from a friend of a friend who just happened to be doing the sound for the show.

I would say that at the peak of the night there was about 100 people. It was just a nice drunken party.

The entertainment was Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Jerry Cantrell (Alice In Chains), Scott Ian (Anthrax), and a whole host of guest performers doing all '70's and 80's covers. Vinnie Paul (Pantera) played some drums for a couple songs. Meatloaf played a couple. There was this girl named Queen V that was KILLER!! She had an awesome voice!!

It was kind of surreal. Hahaha. They were just partying and having a good time onstage. I was REALLY surprised at how good Corey Taylor was at singing covers. He really is a true professional, and he did it all pretty effortlessly.

Best New Years party I've ever been to by far!!

Here's some videos from that night:

The guitar player you're talking about is Corey Taylor (unmasked). Singer of Slipknot and Stone Sour. Did you see him do a Gilmour solo? Turns out he's a very good guitar player too. He played guitar for a good 2 1/2 hours of the set.

Meatloaf was drunk before he even showed up. Hahaha. Before he got on stage, I walked right past him not even knowing who he was. He just looked like some random drunk guy to me. So not only is he in his face. He's in his face with putrid alcohol breath!!

Yea Craig, I know I'm a little late on the info. I just have a lot of stuff going on. Working on guitars, new music, getting ready for a good four day stretch of gigs. Turns out our keyboard player guaranteed Tribal Seeds $600 for our upcoming show with them.... From our band fund. Oi !! We better pack that gig!!

But yea.. New Years was insane.

Shredd,

I found a video of you singing lead on a song, with Haleamano on YouTube.

Did you see it? It's in another thread, with "Shredd" in the title.

I ask because my 13 year old step-son is a new fan of your band, and he asks me every day, whether you have responded yet or not.

LOL

I was about to say that MEATLOAF looked like he reeked of booze/sweat/something smelly!

I should come up with a cologne that covers up the smell of booze, that's be a big seller!

Cool vid!!!! How bad did your head hurt the next day? lol

Yar, I saw the solo. Looks like it was a fun night all-in all. Meatloaf gave me the creeps in this vid tho- I just know if I were playing guitar and that drunk mug started screaming in my face I likely would have dropped him and walked off stage. I have a thing about personal space.

It's awesome you got to go this event tho. It's like a private celebrity party. How kewl is that? ;)

Cheers,
Chris

I don't even remember seeing the light of day on New Years. I remember my ears were ringing pretty good when I got home. I was standing on the Jerry Cantrell side like a giddy teenager. He's one of my favorite musicians of all time.

Yea, he had people visibly annoyed.

It really was a celeb party. Corey got married, and this was the day after party. A lot of the people who went to his wedding went to this too. Vinnie Paul showed up in his full on tour bus! Hahaha.

Funny thing about the Dead Man's hand is it doesn't have a green-room or backstage area. So at one point, the band took a break. When they did, I told my friend Vinny that I needed to piss. The bathroom is kind of small. I opened the bathroom door only to find all of the guys who were onstage waiting to do the same thing. Imagine walking up to that scene. A bunch of rock stars waiting in the same line to piss. Doing the "hurry up, I gotta pee" dance. I just calmly shut the door and let them do their business. But I was laughing my ass off after I closed the door. Definitely not your typical public pissing line.

Long Day Shredd.
Will look in the am.
I'm certain you will make it sometime soon. I really do love your music.
