Hey Phil,
Sounds like you should hook up with Fisherman Bob! You would probably have a very decent blues band AND get some serious fishing in! :D

I just wanna get my new house finished. (I've been building it for most of the last decade, and it's drastically cutting into my musical ambitions!
(except for jammin' with my Granddaughter, and playing for a couple of family functions, I havent played a paying gig all last year!

Anyways...
I got today off with pay, so shall resolve to go back to the new place and complete the wiring. (I still have about a dozen receptacles to hook up, then it's back to plumbing.)

I resolved not to have any resolutions.

Then I realized I had already broken that resolution, by resolving to not resolve in the first place. Now I'm resolved not to resolve things that cannot be resolved by resolving them, when they are unresolvable.

Sounds like there's a song in there somewhere, (has a nice cadence to it)
With you're songcrafting abilitys, should be able to have a demo by this afternoon!

Yeah - we could do every song with dueling basses! Sounds like a plan!

Other than getting back some flexibility and muscle tone, all I want is to push the band as hard and fast as I can.
I've got a plan.

I always wondered why there's never two bass players in a band, at least I haven't seen it. There's been a fair number of bands with two drummers (Allman Bros.) and certainly countless bands with more than one guitarist. Why not try two bass players?

Number one resolution: To be gigging 3-4 times per month by year's end.
Number two resolution: Recording a legitimate CD by year's end.

I don't really do resolutions. I just have goals.

Goals for 2010:

1) Learn sweep picking proficiently. Because to do that I'd have to commit more practice time to technique in general, and ultimately I want better technique. But just setting a goal of "I want better technique" is too broad, so you have to set specific goals. In this case, I want to sweep the Glass Prison Arpeggios cleanly....

2) Play about 20-50 shows.

3) Play The Knitting Factory with Audian

4) Keep lifting weights, working out and getting into better shape. I started this one 39 days ago... Head start on the new year. My ultimate goal is to get down to 190 lbs.

5) Learn "Mr. Scary" - because it's the first song that ever made me want to play the guitar, and I still haven't learned it after all these years.

There are more goals, but some are just too personal to post here quite yet...

Good luck to the rest of you in 2010.

Yep, those little bastard cd's are always trouble. They are always skippin' around and you never know where they come from.

Phil,
I was under the impression that ,because you were contemplating doing a single, that you were proficient on guitar as well. Ya sarcastic 'ol crabass! :lol

Bob,
Back in 68, a couple of old bandmates (drummer and bass player) that I played with in the mid60's were on leave from Vietnam.
The band that I was in at the time had a gig at a local high school, and we invited them to come set in for a big third set jam useing two drum kits AND two basses!. I seem to recall it being pretty cool, but a bit cacophonous!

I resolve to get out and see friends more often. I spend too much time at home blaming it on being too busy (I am busy, but not too busy to visit friends every once in awhile). Just lost a friend and fellow musician the other day and at the funeral saw so many friends I haven't seen in years. The friend that died, I hadn't seen in about 3 or 4 years, and he only lives about 30 miles away.

Bob, back in the early '70's, in a garage/party band, we would do a couple of songs where I would pick up a bass and play lead bass while the bassist kept the groove going.
