OK fellas and gals! Im not sure how much of you are into the musicals. But I have to say this new movie NINE is looking like its going to be one hot number. Penelope Cruz can sing? Who knew! And the women in this movie are way hot. I do have to say that the music is amazing and has very much sparked my inspiration as a song writer! Of course befor I ever wanted to sing, I wanted to be on broadway. So this movie draws out the preformer in me! I know alot of guys dont dig the girly long-dramatic movie musicals but I wonder if theres one of you fellas that might brave the estrogen filled theater just to see these sexy actresses do thier thing?

I've read the reviews and it doesn't sound like it's very good. It aspires to be another Chicago but fails.

Sounds like a advertisement for a porn flick.

Hell, naked women dancing around is easy to sell.

I saw Kate Hudson on a talk show, sharing a clip from the movie.

She sure as hell looked hot (and sounded good) doing her number.

:-)

It might seem wierd, me being a musician & all, but I NEVER liked musicals, once I outgrew the Mary Poppins/Chitty Chitty Bang Bang stuff. They do absolutely nothing for me, even when the music is good. I suppose it's a personal flaw...(just what I need, ANOTHER one!)

I prefer stage Miggie. Films really don't do the stage act very well in my opinion.
Good that it inspired you though.

Happy New Year! :D

Musicals are hard to "get right" as it is, but even harder to translate it to the big screen, as opposed to seeing it live on Broadway.

But they keep trying it, cause some have found remarkable success when brought to film.

But there are far more failures at this, than successes.

I enjoyed the hell out of Hairspray... but that was pretty much a comedy.

I can get into serious musicals (sometimes) like Phantom of the Opera maybe, but they have to be spectatcular, and plus, I am not your normal guy... When someone forces me to watch a chick flick, I'll end up crying like a baby.

LOL

Musicals come off dry as a popcorn fart to me.
To each his / her own I suppose.
Then again if you have to use T&A to sell it.
Cant be all that good to start with.

My fave musical and fave movie of all time is "Seven brides for seven brothers" It has killer music, a romantic, ridiculous story line, and killer dance and fight scenes. I like westside story, and grease. I like a lot of musicals. Will check out the links.

I think I got this confused with Tim Burton's new cartoon epic "Nine." Is THAT a musical, too?

I think the only musical I have ever seen in it's entirety would be
Paint Your Wagon
Don't ask me why. I don't know.
