Does anybody still watch Reality TV such as Survivor? I always thought the name Reality TV should have been Contrived B.S. TV. It has little to do with reality IMO...

Nope I don't. I try not to watch BS as much as possible. In fact the TV is always off when I'm on my own just in case BS rears its ugly head. Thwarting BS should be an agenda as regards this type of programming.
How can you be real with a camera up your backside in any case?

The only reality show that has anything to do with reality is sadly american idol.. at least the losers are really losers and the winners actually do win "opportunity".
Survivor, flavor of love, etc...ad-neaseum ... all CRAP that has nothing to do with reality.

It's been about 2 years since we had tv. I have a 42" flat panel lcd tv. It is hooked to my computer as a secondary monitor for watching youtube (often) or hulu or veoh (rarely). I also have it hooked to a dvd/vcr. I play Dora and elmo for my girls. Other than that no TV, no digital ant., cable, or satellite. I get all my entertainment from the web.

I watch Survivor.
When I first heard about it, I was disappointed and I skipped the first two seasons. I was hoping it was about real survival, like "The Alaska Project" or something like that. But after I got over my disappointment, what I came to realize is that it is the ultimate game show.
I don't think of Survivor as "reality television". I think that's a huge misnomer. I think of it is a competition. It's like a sport, only much broader. It's not just about physical prowess, but mental and social as well.
For the competitive game show aspect, I love it. I love the human interaction and watching people piss away a chance at a million dollars because they let their emotions rule them. It's a great case study in human behavior.

I think Survivor was a different egg no? That was intentional. mean those constant REAL people TV shows about families and stuff. Survivor is ok but our version WAS a tad better frankly.
Hate em all now though hahahaha

My understanding of these shows is that they are all choreographed. Right down to the last word and first tear.
Honestly though I rarely watch TV.

Was 3's Company a reality show? How could someone make up a character like Jack Tripper or Mr Furley?
