No not the drum maker. Beethoven was born 239 years ago today.

It would be difficult to argue with that. You know immediately when you hear Beethoven. I recently saw the DSO perform the Leonore Overture, that one pumps me up.

I have the book "Beethoven's Hair" which is about LVB's heair that was clipped and put into a locket at the time of his death. Then you go through the journey of that locket up until the 21st century. THrough analyzation of this hair, it was discovered that Beethoven died of lead poisoning PLUS...it is confirmed...Beethoven had direct African ancestry Yeah!!!! 8) DEE DEE DEE DAH

I always wondered if somebody like Beethoven or Mozart was born today would they ever become famous? What kind of music would they write/perform these days? It's hard for me to imagine ...

I don't think there were really all that different from today's most talented composers. Much had to do with the era in which they era born.
The rich had no electronic entertainment options so they had to hire and often house "the best" of the days talent to hold in reserve for parties orgies and such.
I wonder if at times they felt more like talented slaves in a cage.
If every rich man in the world had to hire a muso full time to entertain himself and his guest well, you get the picture.
