Rocky Marciano is the only heavyweight champion to retire undefeated for example. Many boxing historians rate Sugar Ray Robinson the greatest all around boxer in history. The one thing that separates Manny is his rising in weight classes and continuing to beat people, very unique in boxing history. It's very difficult to judge fighters from one era to the next. Decades ago there were many more people involved in boxing than today. It was much more difficult for a fighter to attain a world championship than it is today. There are so many different divisions and so many different champions today, it's kind of a joke. Also for somebody years ago to get to a championship fight he had to go through ALL the rated contenders. Now they throw guys into a championship with very few fights under their belt. I'm not saying Manny isn't the greatest fighter of all time, but he's certainly the most unique and has to be given a huge amount of credit for his accomplishments. Let's see if he can beat Mayweather next year. Talk about a megabuck fight....
