I liked it.

Needs a refrain though.

Moody. Voice sounds good with it.

But I need to listen through headphones to say anything more.

Good job brother!

Yeah, Hayden, good tune...kinda haunting. I agree with Craig, it needs a refrain. I'm thinking something in major keys (like Dmaj and Cmaj a couple of times, then maybe walk down to an Am and back to Cmaj, for example) to break up the over all minor keys. I played around with it, but I'm an electric guitarist and just don't have that feel that you have with the acoustic. I'd like to see a live performance or video of you sometime, just so I can put that voice with your pic. :)

It's haunting. I like the chords and that little lick/run at 1:00. I'd like to hear it fleshed out with keys, bass, drums, and harmonies.

I'd also like to hear a triumphant full voice ascension.

I like it, as I like all your songs.
Your ability as a tunesmith is obvious.

I must offer one bit of criticism, however. I believe you should sing with a bit more energy. I realise that when recording at home , most all of us don't project like when were in a live performance situation.

Check out Craig's vocals on his tunes and notice the level of expression he achieves in his self recorded productions.

Just an opinion.

Thanks Sans, J. You are right the vox are weak but I had the flu or a cold when we recorded this and all of the copyright disc. 2 shots at recording and about a year apart... both times sick. so much for luck! I did the guitar and vox at the same time because he drove from Lexington (about 4 hr.s) to record me at no charge so sick or not I needed 14 songs done to copyright. Hopefully I'll get into the studio for some more quality oriented recording soon.

I was waiting for this to change to a major key to resolve, but it didn't happen. The triumphant full voice ascension is a cool idea, too, Paul!

It sounds long, without some sort of a positive change in it.

It seems to melodically wander through the chord progression, instead of drawing the chord progression by force. It's nice enough, but imho, needs a bit of power in there, somewhere, to counter the somewhat lackadaisical rambling melancholy feel that I get throughout. Perhaps a strong bridge, something that stands up & demands one's attention.

I have trouble doing that, myself, in my own songs. Sometimes my vocal melody sounds like a guitar lead instead of an actual melody. I try to counter that with a super strong melodic chorus or bridge, to keep it more interesting, or to keep it from sounding too long.

It's possible that a great harmony voice would excite this a bit, too.

Yeah I am with Philby on this one.

It's really ready for a harmony vocal part.

I'd like to hear it with the harmony vocal added.

After listening again for the 4th time man, the guitar part owns me. Do you have just the guitar in a wav that you could email or send using sendspace.com?

I might like to play with it and I can't play that guitar part like you did.
