I've been discovering new artists and tunes (new to me anyway) on Jango. One I don't ever remember hearing before is Screamin' Jay Hawkins. He recorded some of the coolest and funniest material I ever heard (Little Demon, Alligator Wine, etc.). Got to add a few to our repertoire. Don't know if I can pull any of them off but it's worth a try...

Apparently he was also a world class boxer. I think he chose the right profession...

HJ - some pretty good screaming, there, man!
(bob's right, though...it could use more instruments!)
Not bad at all!

Thanks guys!

( actually, I was howlin')
Sorry to say, that since I committed all my spare time to building our new house, and yakkin' on this forum, I have put the Gin House Rockers on ice. The only time I get to hoot and holler is when Mandy comes over to play her drums.
Back on topic....
Did you know that Screamin' J was once shot by his girlfriend and back up singer? He proved to be as tough as he is crazy!

Quite a few African American performers in the past were shot and killed by various girlfriends, robbers, crazed family members, etc. It's really sad...

Hear hear! hehe
I wanna shoot you too and I don't even know you...
but I want to use my WATER CANNON
No way I'd really harm the illustrious Philby...I mean, there's only one...at least I really hope so.

These are some of the musicians that were shot, stabbed or poisoned. Some died immediately fro their wounds, some died later. Sonny Boy Williamson, Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Robert Johnson, Marvin Gaye, Little Walter, John Lennon. Others have died in plane, helicopter, and car crashes. Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, Otis Redding, Jim Croce, John Denver, etc. And don't forget the drug and alcohol deaths: Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Mama Cass, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson. Maybe it's dangerous being a musician. We need to take care of ourselves...

Yeah, & the ones who've died from cancers - George Harrison, Nat King Cole...or the suicides, like Kurt Cobain, that INXS singer, etc...
Death...it's the next big gig.

And if my memory serves me right,
Yardbirds singer Keith Relf was electrocuted to death from faulty rock &roll equipment! (I'll have to check that out on the Googallater)

John Bonham drowned?
If I remember correctly, John was taking medication to combat alcoholism and drank some beer on top of it, resulting in a heart attack.
Roy Buchannon, excellent guitar player, hung himself in a jail cell, I heard recently Dell Shannon shot himself after years of unsuccessfully trying to get another big hit song. Hendrix actually drowned on his own vomit, if someone had had the presence of mind to simply turn him over on his side he might still be with us. Drug related, but not caused specifically by drugs. Roy Orbison - natural causes I think, Jerry Garcia - heroin overdose, Duane Allman - motorcycle wreck, Berry Oakley (Allman Bros' bass player) motorcycle wreck almost exactly a year later in the same area of Atlanta. Queen singer Freddie Mercury - f%&$ing boys.
