Lilith Fair to return in 2010

Lilith Fair, the traveling 90's all-women's music festival, will return the spotlight in 2010. Plans are currently underway for the festival to return to the road next summer with a stop in Boston already scheduled. No dates, venues, or performers have been revealed.

Co-founded by Canadian musician Sarah McLachlan, Nettwerk Music Group's Dan Fraser and Terry McBride, and talent agent Marty Diamond, the Lilith Fair was a massive hit during the summers of 1997 to 1999. The groundbreaking tour consisted solely of female solo artists and female-led bands including Sheryl Crow, Christina Aguilera, Erykah Badu, The Dixie Chicks, Missy Elliot, The Pretenders, Nelly Furtado, Jewel, Queen Latifah, Indigo Girls, Tegan and Sara and of course, Sarah McLachlan. In its 3 years, Lilith Fair raised over $10 million for women's charities throughout North America.

Lilith 2010 promises to be a much bigger summer festival than it was in the past, traveling for the first time overseas and celebrating a mix of international artists and local up-and-comers. "I can’t reveal anything further now,” McBride said in a press release, “but I can assure fans that we have some exciting announcements over the course of the following weeks, from confirmed artists to additional cities to innovative social initiatives. Lilith 2010 is very much upon us.”

Fans who sign-up for updates on Lilith's return through the festival's website, will receive, a free mp3 download of Sarah McLachlan and Emmylou Harris' performance of "Angel" at Lilith Fair in 1998.

Lilith Fair organizers also announced that they will be partnering with Reverb, the Maine-based company founded by Guster's Adam Gardner and his wife Lauren Sullivan, to make the tour more eco-friendly.

Kate Bush!

Does she even perform anymore? She's so reclusive.

She has one of the greatest vocal ranges of just about any popular music singer I know of.

She intrigues me!

She always has! :-)

I'm not sure if or when she ever played the States. I have an old VHS of her in concert from 1979, amazing.

I've always wondered why they named the festival after the female consort to Lucifer? Any ideas?
