We just finished our second gig at The Hideout in Spring Hill, Kansas. I have to load all the PA gear myself (and my bass amp) drive a half hour, bring everything into the bar (myself), set it up (myself), and then after the gig at least everybody helped me load it into my car, but I drive all the way home and unload it and carry it downstairs into my basement (myself). But it's all worth it. We actually sounded like a real blues band. We had tremendous help on guitar. Lowell Premer from Bluez 57 filled in admirably. He's one of the best, most stylish players in K.C., a real pro. His rhythm is TIGHT. What a difference playing with a PROFESSIONAL. Hopefully we'll play there again. Looking forward to it...We need to get some gigs a little closer to home. There was mostly locals there again, might have to learn a few country tunes next time...

Now see...I'd be kickin' some bandmates asses if I had to set up by myself, too! That, imho, is just so wrong!

Glad your glad, though.

Make 'em show up early & help you unload & set up in the future, bob!

I have this insane early bird mentality. I always arrive earlier than anybody else and have it all set up. I can't really complain because I don't expect anybody to be like me...

Well how often is he willing to fill in?

Did he enjoy playin' with you guys enough to make it a side project?

I know it's nice, playin' with people who know what the hell they're doing.

In my last two bands, it seemed like the guys with the least talent had the biggest egos, and did the most bitching!!!

If I get a job and he's available he'll do it. We all can use a little extra income and he think he really enjoyed playing with us. He doesn't have to worry about anything with our band. We've all been doing this a LONG time and it showed tonight. Now we have to get into some real blues clubs somehow. Or at least play closer to home. However I'm really fascinated with the prospect of playing at Whiskey Tango. That place is MEGA-HUGE. The dance floor is at least three times the size of the entire Hideout bar we just played at. It's going to be a real interesting gig. And we don't have to lug a PA, they do that and mike everything and run sound for us. Even though it's also a haul, especially for the harmonnica player, I'm pumped up to play there. Those people won't know what's going to hit them...

I like large venues, but there's something about the small ones that gives me more chance to interact on a personal level with ppl.

Sometimes I find myself picking on someone alil bit, & it's a real laugh & everyone has fun...nothing mean-spirited, you uinderstand...& everyone starts to interact & it becomes a party atmosphere before you realize it.

Hard to do that in a huge place, but then, seeing all those ppl out there, & the lights & the echoes...makes you feel like you "made it to the big time!"

Sometimes I go to hit the Submit tab and nothing happens. Then I hit it again, and nothing happens. Then I hit again, and nothing happens. Then I hit it again, and nothing happens...

Yep, that's just what happened, bob. Of course, during all of that I got 3 "Gateway Time Outs." My sat was blockered by clouds, more than likely...

I really hate it when my 'puter gives me a "time out" like I was in Jace's preschool or sumpin! I wasn't doin' nuffin wrong!
