Just got a call from Jace's day care.

He has a temp of 102, & seems to be showing signs of an ear ache.

Damn my crappy genes!

I called Ian, & he's leaving work to get him & take him to a doc. (I asked him for a copy of his insurance card, so I could take care of this stuff for him, but I guess he forgot.)

Happens to all kids. Especially the ear infection thing.

Perhaps you're right, but all I can seem to think about is how I've got the very same problem in both ears right now, & have gotten them ever since I was his age.

He is right. The ear canal is at an odd tilt in childhood. It does not drain well and any little snotty nose can result in infection.
Deal with it in your normal Good Gramps style Phil. All is not lost.
