Some work and some don't.
The movie "Paranormal Activity" is now rolling out nationwide due to an online marketing campaign. This movie was made for $11,000 (yes, thousand) and is now reaping millions.
They staged a campaign that it would roll out nationwide if enough people requested it on "DemandIt.com"
I think the big mistake on the Burger King one may be that, if they have to question him about whether he likes Burger King food by a lie detector test, then by default, it means there "should" be doubt about this, since it has to be tested.
Does he really like Burger King or not? It makes Burger King look weak. The feeling should be "Everyone likes Burger King, it doesn't even have to be tested."
In a way, unconsciously, they are actually putting doubt in people's minds about whether Burger King food is liked or not.
