Dude, I think if you cant speak read and write english you aint got any business over here in America.
I also believe all Texans should be able to speak Spanish or Mexican and no it's not the same. Mexican and Texas culture are inseprable.
My Mexican used to be pretty good when I was young and working pipeline. Hard working men of humor who will share their last tamale.
Think I'll try that Rosetta Stone thingy.
The true Mexican culture is a beautifull thing.
Strong stoic men of honor and tight family bonds.
Via con Dios amigo.

I'm 1/2 Italian and 1/2 British .... Probably why I always have this craving for a spot of tea after a hearty lasagna dinner!

My wife and I went to a Dunkin the other month. Never again. I'm in music, I understand problems with PA, Vox systems but oh boy.....

5, yes 5 times my wife ordered her sandwich. Neither of us could understand what the lady was saying. Much less did she understand my wife.

When I go abroad I always learn the basics just in case. I'm lucky here but then not so sometimes because there is that colloquial thing that gets messed up sometimes. No one's fault, just how it is.

But please cater for where you live, not where you came from. I call that being polite.

we certainly do cater a great deal to people who have not assimilated. where i live especially, the counties here have taken an attitude that status (illegal or not) is not something the police need to concern themselves with in the normal course of their duties.

ive been unemployed for SIX months and have been shut out of free training classes because im overly-educated and not with drug, money, or housing problems. so, my cheap, frugal lifestyle and choice to abstain from drugs is now working against me.

i live in an area w/ a robust economy, and therefore theres been high immigration here for decades. they do not assimilate. soccer has almost killed little league baseball. the FM radio dial? you guessed it - all spanish-language stations. i guess thats due to demand, but i choose to live in the united states, not mexico north (and i dont mean to ridicule).

i just want my old culture back - steelers games, irish neighbors, polish food, and english everywhere, not stares from people who bring their feelings of isolation onto themselves. so im moving soon.

my parents are from a non-anglo country, so i have a frame of reference. im not just an angry white man.

Just everybody worry about yourselves and your families.... try to keep your heads above water.... survive... nothing you can do about it with the exception of going overboard and living the rest of your life behind bars... Life is flying by... Working sucks but it's gotta be done to pay the bills and house and feed the wife and kiddies... I'd rather be playing for a living but that just ain't happening at my age... I find if you get upset over taxes, immigrants, job situations, etc... and you bundle it all together in one thought, you'll end up puttin' a bullet through your brain... not worth it... my guitar and my bike is my only release from the everyday bullsh!t and I look forward to doing either of them after work every day.... It's getting hard to keep the head above water but you gotta concentrate on your little corner of life and don't fret the small sh!t (i.e. illegal, non-english-speaking immigrants)
