Hey all!

I was wondering if I could impose on you guys to give the first song of my new project a listen. The new project is called "Below Grey" and is 100% internet, no rehearsals, no face to face etc.... All real musicians, no electronic stuff....

The song is in my profile and is called "One Night"

Thanks in advance if you decide to be brave and give it a listen...:)

X!

Damn good in all respects, Mad. Wondered where you'd been and what you'd been doing. Good playing, writing, mix...everything. And it's all real instruments played by real musicians? Great job. I'd like to pick your brain more about internet collaborations. My e-mail is on my profile. Give me a shout sometime.

Phew....
This is really good MadmX :D I guess you just swapped files right? Or was it on one of these sites where you play along with each other? I rather doubt that owing to the quality of it.

Really good stuff.

I love it! It has a great Power Metal sound to it. Kinda reminds me of Iced Earth! Great instrumentals, and amazing singing. Let me know when you get some more recordings, cause I want them on my Ipod

Very well done! Not my genre of choice, really, but I can recognize excellence when I hear it.

Nice collaboration. Is this one of your songs? Were any of the musos from here? How did you meet up?

Tell us something about the nuts & bolts of a project like this, please. What kinds of hardware/software were used, & did everyone use the same stuff? How long did itr take to get to this point?

Agreed. How about doing a second version with Ryan Strain on vocals?

Good production and mix. The music is pretty dated - 80's. The vocals combine 80's glam with the Liza Manelli vibrato, and the 90's sounding like Marilyn Manson, and then covers the cookie monster metal vocals too. If that's what you are going for and you like it musically then ROCK! I don't like it as far as taste goes but the talent is obvious. Good job!

Thanks for the kind feedback everyone!! Let me see if I can answer some questions....

1. Yes real people... no actual musicians were harmed in the making of this demo....

2. We do this via shared files.... similar to the way bands that don't get along have been doing it for years...) except this is faster. I have a file site that we use.... I create a "bed" track with a basic song structure and send it to the drummer, then to the vocalist, then keys (next song)... Then back to me for final recording and mixing. The entire process takes about 6 weeks unless someone is out.

3. 80's... well thats not what I want but I guess there is no escaping my roots...:) As far as the cookie monster vocals... I think he eats carrots now, healthy diet you know... he got a little tubby so now hes the Carrot Monster... (bah!!!!)

Thanks again everyone.... I am off to record the finals for #2....:)

X!
