A beautiful PRS guitar! This beauty sounds awesome and it plays so smooth! I honestly like the tone much better than my Pauls!

Having the Techs set it up tomorrow and this time I ain't walking out with it until I'm fully satisfied with their set-up!

Paul Reed Smith guitars are very high end.... This one is actually more expensive than any of my Pauls... They can get up to 15 grand I went there today and they had a one day 10% off... Plugged a few of them in and just fell in love with this particular model. It is perfect for the stuff I'm playing and it just plays so beautifully.... Sad to say, I switched one of my Pauls for it because I got the full value of the Paul (They even let me do and "Even Steven's even though it was almost 900 bucks more)... couldn't get the sound I wanted with The LP I purchased and when I had the tech set it up, it was still very hard to play compared to my other 2 Pauls and the sound was tooo clean for the music I do.

I saw a gorgeous Ibanez years ago. Double neck thingie. Instead of getting that I bought some drums. Go figure huh? :D
Hope it does all the right things for you pal.

the custom 24 for instance has a vol, a tone and a rotary switch instead of a 3 way toggle like a les paul (when you turn it it 'clicks' into dif positions like a toggle switch and gives weird coil combos like inside coils, outside coils, in phase, out of phase, etc.).
either way is cool, I'm just fascinated by the rotary and wondered if this model has it or not. does one of the knobs 'click'?

The PRS's are really nice guitars, and what really separates them from the rest of the gibson and fender wanna-be's is simply their TONE.

PRS guitars have a very unique tone that you can hear in every one of them, much like a les paul, SG or strat, tele, etc.. which puts them into the big leagues.

Now that I've said that....

I HATE PRS guitars lol. I realize what they are, and respect them, but that tone just makes me cringe lol. Mostly because of my affinity for Rush, and since Alex Lifeson switched to PRS guitars, every time he picks one up and plays a familiar song, I just hear that freeking TONE overlaying and missing the mark of the original tone(s). Some of their music was on strats, some on gibsons, and some even on signature brand and other off brand guitars, and all relevant. but anyways.....

I hear that tone in a lot of music and I just cringe lol..

But CONGRATS Crip, it will serve you well!

I played with a guy who had the Santana model PRS. He also had a Strat body PRS. Man, I LOVE those axes! I love the wide variety of tones, the playability, the necks, everything about any PRS I've ever held. That is something I can't say for many name brand instruments. (Then again - I'm no great guitarist by any stretch of the imaginationm so perhaps my opinion shouldn't matter...LOL)

When I saw Carlos 11 years ago, Paul Reed Smith actually got on stage with him to play a cpl tunes. He was holding himself back, & you could tell, but it wasn't his show. I respected that, but wished he'd cut loose a little more than he did.

Good for you, Crip! Enjoy it to the fullest!

Thanx Guys! and I appreciate your honesty, Kramerguy! I used to own a Kramer Baretta many years ago and I swear that the "feel" of this guitar is exactly the same.... as far as the tone.... That's exactly the sound I was looking for! Remember that there are many variables in changing the tone be it on the axe by simply adjusting the tone or treble knob to finding the right sound with my Line6.... Don't forget, I can change sooo many sounds and effects with just my amp alone... I swear, When I played my Paul one day while experimenting with the amp, You could swear that I was playing a Tele... There's so many sounds one can get with today's modern amps! I agree, if you have a Marshall, then you bettr like the sound of that axe, cause that's all you're gonna get... but my Tube Spider Valve is just a surprise everytime I change my settings!

no doubt the PRS guitars have a feel very much like the Kramers of old. It almost pains me :)

yeah, with my modeler pedal, I can get almost any sound you can throw at me, but that tiny distinction between a tele sound and an actual tele is a huge difference to me, even though I know the common fan wouldn't know or care :P

See that guitar in my avatar? Looks like an ibanez RG model, eh? It's a cheap chinese copy, $150 new lol, I was playing it that day when my Kramer was in the shop.. and just happened to take a cool picture (i'm not very photogenic har har)

So yeah, it's just a small point of preference, but that PRS sound just doesn't do much for me

OK... Now you're pissin' me off! heehee,,JK.. Like I said... Perfect for the stuff we're doin: Godsmack, Disturbed, AIC, Kings X, Black Label Society, etc... I NEED that tone sooo bad for this style and I'll be damned....I found it!
