Check out this clip around the 0:55 mark. The one Fender amp has had its baffle modified for a BIG speaker. I know a 15" speaker would be more likely, but I swear it looks like an 18" to me. Do I need new glasses?

Hard to say with the bikini distractions but I'd say 18".

That looks like a Twin Reverb, not uncommon for Vaughn, and it's 20" tall according to the Fender Amp Field Guide. The chassis face is about 2" tall, and the speaker is at least an inch below that, plus it's at least 2" above the bottom of the cabinet. Not enough room there for an 18" speaker, it would be touching both the chassis and cabinet bottom and if you stop the vid you can see it still has a bit of room to spare both top and bottom, no way it can be an 18".

It's not. Not big enough and the other one is only a single speaker rig, probably a 12'. Super Reverb is a 4x10 rig. I'd know it anyway, I have one and recognize them right away. The Super is an almost square cabinet, that's not even close to square.

Actually now that I think about it, that might not be a Twin, since the other amp is one speaker. Twin Reverb was usually a 2x12 amp. Unless he modified both... Something like a Blues Deluxe or similar, basically the same size as a Twin, but lower wattage and single speaker. Could be a Pro, 19 1/2"and 40 or 70 watts, Deluxe Reverb is 17" tall and 22 watts, Vibrolux 18 1/2" and 30-4- watts so most of those could be fitted with a 15", but the Twin would have the most room for it.

It is a 64 Fender Vibroverb, which is 20 inches tall, so Pete's right about it being a 15. Wonder who owns it now.

All this talk of 60s era Fender amps has got me feeling awfully guilty about my blackface Twin (see pic on my page) just sitting in the studio out of commission. I really should get off my wallet and buy the full set of new tubes, and a new reverb tank that it needs to be up and running again

It's kinda ironic that the subject of big diameter speakers for use with guitars turned up in the forum at this time.
Just last night, I googled Ampeg B-18X, which was my personal dream amp for combo organ back in the 60's. I could never had afforded one then, and in fact, had never even actually seen or heard one.( There were many bass players in my town at that time useing the classic Ampeg B-15 and B- 12s)

I was surprised to lean that the designers at Ampeg actually had guitar players in mind when they created the B-18X! The X featured a small horn to reproduce highs.

here's a article on the B-18X. (maybe if my ship ever comes in, I may still get one, they seem to go for about a grand, but with a fresh set of tubes, I betcha' it would kick ass hooked up to my synths.)

Think that's bad? They red line internet every time I type it and send it out over the internet.

Both amps are either Vibroverbs or modded Super Reverbs. Vibroverbs came with 15" speakers. However, the speakers in those SRV amps are 15" JBL's E-130's. SRV was known to use those E-130's in the early 80's.
