Does this PC nonsense grind anyone elses gears like it does mine. I mean sweet Jesus, some knob on a forum from another site chastised me for using the term "Jew's Harp" for those metal mouth twangers. Apparently if I had to use that pronunciation instead of Jaw harp I should have spelled it "juice harp". I didn't argue, I just asked if I should start spelling certain plants as "wandering juice". And don't get me started on retarded vs. special.

Dajax,

I always referred to the one I played as a Jew's harp. In fact, I bought it off of a Jew, Jay Cameron. who, besides operating an awsome music store, was one of the best baritone sax players in the world.
Sounds like that politically correct person on that other site is an asswhole!

Call it what 'Ya wanna', but just be careful you don't chip a tooth!

later,
Howlin'

I know...like Space Balls. We ain't see sh*t!!!

I know that this may not seem like me but have you tried to purchase a Disney song book. The crows in the cartoon, Dumbo, were no doubt representative of black men. "I been done seen 'bout everhing when I sees a elephant fly". It is hilarious to hear. So my daughters and I wanted to get the music book and the words were without ebonics and the revised version was totally blah. I don't know...we have become so PC that we are removing the art of our culture.

Yes, we have erased much of our art & rewritten or redesigned it, due to PC pressures from well-meaning but very stupid ppl. Have your kids bring Twain's Huckleberry Finn home from the school library, IF they can find it. You will discover that the language of the period has been updated & PC'd to protect the overly-sensitive, if the book hasn't been banned in your district.

"Dumbo" is no longer approved in our schools, btw, although many more "PC-friendly" movies are shown to indoctrinate our children into the brave new PC world. (Did I say "brave?" HARDLY!)

Your kids prolly can't even find "The Wizard Of Oz" in the school library. It's been removed to appease the overly-sensitive Christians, cuz it has mention of a "good witch," which, as any good Christian will tell you, you mustn't suffer to live. I'm not kidding. This book was removed from school libraries back in the '80's by overzealous christians who claimed this went against their religion.

I did a lil paper on this back in '89, & the censorship of so much everyday stuff that I grew up with astounded me.

School versions of Shakespear, historical novels that help us to understand the mindsets of the past, all twisted to fit today's oversensitive twit. Entire books banned for casual mention of things that someone might find offensive. You'd think that we were saving ppl from dangerous thoughts that would undermine the safety of the nation, much like the nazis did, or the socialists, or the fascists in our history books...oh! Wait a minute! That's EXACTLY what we're doing as we're giving the next generation an entirely different education than anything which could be called "real."

If you disagree with our methods, we'll hafta send you off to be re-educated in our safer, kinder, friendlier schools & colleges. (Yes, even college material is often heavily censored to protect innocent minds from dangerous ideas!)

PCish guy that I am, if I'd gotten comments like you did, Dajax, I'da told 'em that my description was much better than "kyke's harp," which is what I used to call it before I became a new millenium man, so F*CK OFF!

Watched a Greenday concert on Paladia yesterday and the entire show got screwed up from the censors. It didnt stop the entire communication, but it took away quite a bit. Definitely not real !

Another day in Paradise !!!

WHat about Bugs Bunny? Much of their stuff was just really bad PC but it was hilarious. In the long run, a lot of history is going to be sacrifieced for the sake of PC. What is weird is that it is so unbalalcned. A couple of years ago, the vocal teacher wanted to perform the song, Pick a Bail of Cotton. There was a black family who not only insisted that thier son not sing this song, they insisted on it being pulled from the concert. There was a committee and everything on it. Well, what is funny, is my son was listening to a Ludacriss CD. It was a CD that he had not listened to for a long time. Guess what the song was that was used as a remix? Pick a Bail of Cotton. You know, I don't care what anyone says, slavery was a part of our history. It was not a pretty part of our history but it shows that a pheonix can rise from its ashes. This is true only if the ashes, and the fire that put the ashes there, are acknowledged. I can understand politically correctness but I don't think that it is going to prove to be advantageous for the culture of humanity. If that makes any sense.

It's a sad commentary on humanity that we are so stupid. We constantly look back instead of foreward, yet still refuse to learn from that we observe.
When an adult wants or needs someone to tell them what to do, and depends upon them for their welfare, they are indeed still slaves.

The old Amos and Andy televsion show has been banned from appearing on any television station. I'm not sure you can buy any episode anywhere (haven't checked that out but it might be very hard to come by). It was one of the absolute funniest TV shows ever and in my opinion far less racially insulting than Sanford & Son which is shown on cable TV all the time. Mark Twain's novels are masterpieces. To alter Huck Fin is akin to altering the Mona Liza painting or altering the movie Citizen Kane. You can be politically correct to the point of being a political dumbass. What the hell is wrong with the term "Jew's Harp?" How is that derisive? I don't get it....
