Oh yea!! That's what I'm talking about!

It's gonna be a live video of his latest tour. I saw this show last year and it was freaking AMAZING!! Here's the promo!

I'll be snagging one of these for sure. Steve Vai is always a big inspiration for me. The Sam Ash here in Vegas was selling one of those acrylic Ibanez guitars. It's not just see through swirl, but it's fiber optic lighting that lights up green with a flip of the switch. Had a $5,000 price tag on it.

I'm going to have to break out my "Live at the Astoria" DVD (for the hundredth or so time) and get all goose bumped and ready for the new. Thanks for the heads up.

Way cool. I know he does adds for Carvin. I wonder if he still uses their amps. After all that Steve Vai Signatue Legacy II looks pretty cool on paper.

Vai is one of the few shredders that has what I call soul.

Of course he makes me feel very inadequate. I get a major case of "chop envy" when I see or hear any of his music.

Here's a nice little interview with Steve about auditioning for Zappa.

I'm always fascinated with these kinds of stories.

Sans, he still uses Carvin amps. It would be hard for me to think he'll ever change that so far into his iconic career. I think he'll always be known for his Ibanez guitars and Carvin amps.

Another cool interview:

Ha, ha. Was just watching an old Elvis movie, "Love Me Tender" and he was playing and singing and did this song, I guess called "Poor Boy", and each time he'd get to the chorus he'd sing the words "poor boy" twice. Sounded familiar in a way and then I remembered Billy Sheehan's song "Poor Boy" off of "Live at Astoria". Made me wonder if Mr. Sheehan was into old Elvis movies. :)

I absolutely love Steve Vai. I've seen him a few times but not anything recently.

"flexible" and "passion and warfare" two tapes I wore out entirely!

afa his gtr... I've played almost all of them, I own a 1989 jem 77 floral print and it's (IMO) one of the finest playing/sounding gtrs ever made.
You can get that EXACT 'sisters' tone running it clean into an amp.

The acrylic one is not for me... 5g and it's acrylic??!????? what about tone?????
this is the one I'd like to find... very rare nowadays...

Here I go again... Steve Vai is awesomely talented, but he's soooo, ... effing Vegas showy it turns my stomach. This video just reinforces for me that point of view.

Tender Surrender is probably the best song I've heard from him, and I love it - but alot of his other stuff is sooo out of my taste-range, I just can't see ever going to one of his shows. He's talented for sure, but I can't help but envision of line of dancing girls behind him for every song - which might not be a bad thing, but like Yani, he's too Vegas for my taste.

;)

That's an awesome guitar Mistemikev! I have played them and they feel and sound great. My dream is to have a Universe 7 string. I go see Vai perform at the G3 tours with Satch or whenever he comes solo. Steve Vai has his own style of shred that is very distinguishable to other players. Definitely one of the best around now. SHRED ON!!!

Your lesson for the day:

Ok. I'll be back with my progress in about 5-years.

Could you honestly imagine taking lessons from him. I'd just be watching in amazement the whole time with a blank stare on my face.
